TruePower Fans and Cross-Ship replacements

I spotted other questions in the forum so I'll add some more information. The TruePower PSUs have 'Fan Only' connectors on them. Based on the PSU temp and load, the fan speed is varied for maximum quiet or optimal cooling as needed. Those connectors are described in the manual as being for only one ...

some cheese... :)

If the SmartPower PSU is making a high pitched whine, it is either the bearing in the fan or a capacitor failing. If the pitch of the noise changes with the speed of the fan, it's the fan. If it stays the same frequency, then you have a failing capacitor, and you should contact tech support to get i...

Had to rez to do a little Antec bashing. Bought an Antec Solo case with Earthwatts 380watt powersupply. Couldn't boot my Biostar am2 mb. Upon further review, the 24 pin connector didn't have all its connectors wired, imagine that. Not just that it came loose, but the leads are just missing! Thats q...

As long as we offer cases with 200mm fans we'll have fans for them. Way back (10 years ago) we offered black monitors, mice, and keyboards to go along with our black cases (KS280B and even the older black AT cases). I don't know for sure if we'll be offering the 200mm fan at retail, although we have...

"A_Pickle Did you check to see whether your Dell can take a replacement standard ATX power supply? I'd hate for you to burn out your mobo. Yep. I already did, it has a standard power supply compatible with the ATX form factor. Trouble is, they don't have the "on/off" switches on their PSU's... so a...

It really depends. What are your temps now? Are you happy with them or not? Assuming the temps are ok, and the noise is really bugging you, then I'd say replace the case fan with the new one. Monitor your temps and see how things go. If temps are too high then either put the old fan back in and put ...

1 point in the drive rails favor is if you use a similar line of cases you can just pop the drive/rail assembly into the new case (anyway I thought this was great going from my SX830 to my plus660B). However that's a pretty limited benefit. Was also useful this weekend, helping my roommate make some...

If you can verify the +5v with a multimeter. MBM5 relies on the motherboard sensors and those aren't necessarily reporting that the PSU is putting out, but rather what the MOBO is seeing after the power goes through the mobo (and it's various parts). Oh and do this at idle and under load. If it is o...

BTW will be slow in the mainstream. Most estimates I've seen figure on 2006-2007 before it's 50/50 between BTX and ATX.

And yes we'll be coming out with BTX cases.

hard to say. Too many variables, because our distributors just grab and ship instead of using FIFO (sorry First In First Out). I'd figure most Sonatas in stores now, have them. Super Lanboy probably before P160, just based on the sales over the last couple of months. Figure for Super LANBOY by early...

Newer shipments of both are coming with a single connector for the USB connector.

However I'm not sure if they're out in the wild yet. But it is coming for all of our cases.

BTX: Most are taking a wait and see attitude. We are. Take your favorite case, the manufacturer has to retool the process to make it compliant with BTX. I've heard that at a minimum that'll cost $10,000. That's just for the 1 line of cases. Repeat for any others. Now I'd think (not being a factory/d...

You could probably use Panaflo 80mm L1A's (something like $5.00 if you look around) instead of the Enermax fan. With that system it doesn't sound like you'll be dealing with that much heat anyway. Heck if you want you can replace the fan in the PSU with a Panaflo (voiding warranty most likely). Also...

Hmm, that's pretty high temp. I don't recall seeing anyone else having that high an idle temp.

For the Vid Card I'd suggest using a slot cooler on the first PCI slot (that's assuming you have an open slot available).

Started playing it again after getting the 1.10 beta patch. It's a lot harder then it used to be which is a nice change for higher level characters. I also like the synergy bonuses from skills. Still a very enjoyable game. I got bored with WCIII to the point that I'm not sure I'll get Frozen Throne....

RMA it. The PSU's are suppossed to exhaust air from the case (otherwise the PSU would have 2 exhaust fans, which doesn't make a lot of sense).
