Re: AntiVirus suggestions

Well....old time problem, but there are always new solutions. Among the best, you may have Bitdefender and Microsoft Security, but Norton and Avira are competitive too. Best to read a comparison or review of different anti-malware before committing. I just searched randomly and found this one for e...

1080Ti K|NGP|N or FTW3 Elite Gaming Black? Help me choose between these two cards...

Should I get the 1080Ti K|NGP|N or FTW3 Elite Gaming Black? I would run it at stock speeds. All I want (i.e., what is most important to me) is reliability. I do not want to deal with RMAs or inconsistent performance and I don't care about coil whine. I'm curious as to whether the K|NGP|N will be a m...

experience with Galax GPUs?

I have not heard of Galax before but just recently came across the Galax GTX 980 HOF , a card that appears to outperform the EVGA classified. Their stats can be compared here: EVGA 980 Classified Galax GTX 980 HOF Problem is that I have not heard of Galax and am not familiar with them. Anyone here h...

980 hydro vs. classified clock speeds and cooling

The clock speeds ( base, boost and memory clock speeds as currently listed ) of the hydro and classified are listed as the same. It is safe to presume that a hydro cooled card will run significantly cooler than an air cooled card (the classified in this case). But where these two cards have the same...

Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

I am going to wait for the Overlord monitor. I'm not in a rush and comparables are just that, nothing I found exceeds it performance wise. The delay also works on the gpu front considering availability of evga classified 980s is slim and/or inconsistent at best. From other forums, including the evga...

Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

Well, I just received an email that pre-ordered Overlord monitors are going to be delayed into December... Not quite sure if I want to wait or purchase something different. I do not want the Asus Swift, I do not want to pay that much for features that are not going to be appreciated (someone else wo...

Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

vargis14, thanks for the information. The two 670 cards I have now use the reference blower design for cooling so the top card is only about 3 degrees Celsius warmer than the card below it. The top card is also around 18 months older so I am not sure what impact that has. The 980 classified cards ma...

Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

If you're not in a hurry I would just wait and see what the GM204 landscape looks like in another six weeks. If I had to buy cards for SLI I would get a couple of cards from one of the HUGE vendors (Asus/Gigabyte/MSI) with the reference blower cooler. It's a high-quality cooler and being a referenc...

Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

The classifieds are very attractive and I am not in a huge rush...before the end of the year is my preference. I read somewhere that the classified would come out this month but that does not look like it will happen... Considering EVGA's reputation with the 980 and other classified cards they have ...

Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

EVGA does have the step up program 90 days, just a thought you could get a couple 970s then when the 980 classifieds come out you could pay the difference and upgrade to them. I know the 980s I have seem have a max of 5 or 6 vrms for the GPU the classifieds should have I am guessing at least 8, but...

Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

deruberhanyok, I would be paying regular retail for these, I'm not paying the mark up of some of the Amazon sellers... vargis14, I saw the classified too (even found a link on Newegg) but did not see any info related to release dates nor did I find any reviews of it...vaporware at the moment it seems

Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

Rather than create a new thread...

Is the EVGA 04G-2983-KR meaningfully better than the Gigabyte GV-N980G1?

On paper it seems like the answer is yes but am I missing something? Why is the Gigabyte more expensive?

Sorry for the delay but OP is here to deliver. A very interesting bunch of replies in here. Re: Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

Are you feeling limited at all by your GTX 670 SLI setup? That's the real question. If not, I wouldn't bother... I assume you've seen reviews like Guru3d's GTX 970 SLI review; you can use the GTX 690 as a close-enough stand-in for your GTX 670 SLI... Currently, no, not feeling limited, I'm just cur...

Should I go from EVGA GTX 670 FTW to Gigabyte GTX 980

Should I upgrade from EVGA GTX 670 FTW SLI to Gigabyte GTX 980 Windforce SLI? I would purchase two of the GTX 980 cards to replace the two GTX 670 cards I currently have in SLI. It is definitely an upgrade but I am not sure it is 100% worth it in terms of degree of upgrade. Any related comments on t...

Re: a psu and monitor are being shipped together...

Are you buying a "naked" monitor (like used)? Monitor comes in their own boxes too. So you are looking at 2 boxes packed inside a bigger Amazon branded box. You must be dealing with "naked" monitors and PSUs so much you forgot how they are being packaged these days. It is highly...

Re: a psu and monitor are being shipped together...

Newbie question: you feel the PSU will damage the monitor because of magnets or something or just because it is heavy and small? I order from Amazon quite a bit. Their packaging is almost always good, and their return/exchange process for defective items, items damaged during shipping, and even ite...

a psu and monitor are being shipped together...

I ordered a 1200 watt power supply and a 29" ultra widescreen monitor from Amazon 5 days apart hoping that they would be packaged and shipped separately. I received notice today that both are being shipped to me together. Based on how most of my Amazon purchases are packed I am expecting the mo...

Re: dual screen question - one 21:9 the other 16:9

Thank you to all for your responses.

Does it matter how I plug the monitors into the two video cards? For example, Should they both be plugged into the top most video card (card #1)?

Thanks.

dual screen question - one 21:9 the other 16:9

Is anyone running a dual monitor setup with one monitor 21:9 the other 16:9? I wanted to know if anyone is experiencing issues with such a setup? The 21:9 would be to make working with spreadsheets easier and the 16:9 would be the monitor getting the most use. There would be two EVGA 02G-P4-2678-KR ...
