Re: John Carmack: Ultimate Troll?

The majority of PC games work just fine out of the box. Sometimes the FOV needs changing in a config file, but I rarely find the need to look for a fix unless it's a bug, which usually gets patched. Rage and a few other games are the exception. Now, Deus Ex: HR is a fine example where they sent the ...

Re: John Carmack: Ultimate Troll?

I'm sure he is crying all the way to the bank. Anyway, who cares what Carmack does with his tech demos? Would be nice if Id could turn out an actual good game once a decade. Doubt it if you look at the user reviews. http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/rage This isn't a tech demo unless you cons...

No. I'm just saying, the Xbox 360 edition alone will sell more copies than the PC.

That doesn't justify releasing the PC version in a crappy state. The funny thing is Carmack now regrets making consoles the leading platform for their games, and says they will go back to using the PC.

Like that NVIDIA drivers and hardware didn't need concessions. That NVIDIA drivers weren't released screwed up. "NVIDIA platforms continue to be the Gold Standard at Id Software for quality, performance, and support." -- John Carmack http://pressroom.nvidia.com/easyir/customrel.do?easyiri...

Re: New Nvidia driver problem, crashes and recovers

obligatory sarcastic remark about nvidia being the gold standard in drivers. My 470 gave me tons of flash video crashes with earlier drivers, I wouldn't be surprised that the latest one does the same. I'll try it out and if it does, back to the old version. I believe that was a quote from Joh...

Session 9 was pretty creepy and is more of a mindf*ck movie. Filmed at a real and deteriorating insane asylum.

The Shining (1980) is probably my top pick.

By now I think you would be used to it as story-driven games have become much more cinematic in the last few years.

I'd definitely pick up the Splinter Cell games. Double Agent is the weakest of the lot, but it's still not too bad.

I've tried it a couple of times. I simply find it slow and... well, monotone. While the music is interesting, the dialog was just sort of boring. And, btw, what's with that the versions? Good lord. I've seen two different versions, but I am pretty sure there are least 2 others out there. Bleh. Make...

Blade Runner usually takes a second or third viewing to get into it. Some movies are like that. Watch it again in a few years and you might appreciate it.

Homefront kills Crysis 2 in sales totals Although Homefront has been in the chart for one more week than Crytek's shooter (as of the 16th April 2011), the figures speak for themselves. The Xbox 360 version to date (after 4 weeks of data) has sold in the region of 692,037 units, averaging at around ...

MSE is a joke; it puts pointless and false alerts over programs that work just fine. I uninstalled it shortly and stuck with having only Avast. Avast also seems to work well in conjunction with Threatfire and ZoneAlarm firewall and all three are free. Not according AV Comparatives. Avast is much wo...

If it gives them a whole lot of more revenue compared to the first games, I guess they made the right choice, because that will make them continue producing games. Hopefully good games with a good story. Unfortunately the sales numbers don't show it. Unlike the COD franchise, which appears to be wh...

The old format was better. Mostly, this new one just lacks contrast - it's either all white, or all blue, and either is just ugly. This just seems like change for the sake of change, without much thought put into specific improvements. The "silver" option might be better if it were a litt...

Yeah, you need to have the RF receiver that plugs into a USB port on a PC. You can buy it separately if you already have a wireless Xbox 360 controller.

Re: Best Gamepad controller?

I''d recommend the Xbox 360 controller for best compatibility. I have a slightly cheaper Logitech Dual Action gamepad and for some games you need to use the Xbox 360 controller emulator for it to work right. Not a big deal until you get a game where the gamepad just doesn't work correctly. Note that...

Re: Question about upgrading to a C2Q Q8300

I saw quite a performance increase with GTA4 when going from an E6400 @3GHz to a Q8400 @3.2GHz and a GTX 260. You've got a faster CPU, but for multi-core games I'd say you'd be much better off with a Q8300 and a GTX 460. Obviously a newer CPU, mobo and RAM would be a better and long-lasting solution...

Re: Crysis 2 :(

First off, I don't think anybody is demanding a return to "days of yore", just that they are extremely disappointed in how much of a console port crysis2 is. I think this was to be expected. To the developers, the PC platform exists solely for that extra 10% of game sales if they're lucky...
