Re: Why does my E8500 underclock

Oh, I see.

I had a doubt that was the case, since CPU-Z bounced to multiplier 9 occasionally and games + everything seemed to run well.

This is fine, since I want it to run slower/cooler while not under load. Thanks for clearing this up. :)

Why does my E8500 underclock

I recently build myself a new system : - E8500 (Wolfdale) - Asus P5Q Pro - 2 x 2GB Kingston 800MHz DDR2 Now my problem is that for some reason the CPU runs at a measly 2GHz even after I've tried changing the settings in BIOS. I've turned CPU ratio etc. to manual, Speedstep should be off and it shoul...

UT2004 problem : dodge doesn't work

I recently reinstalled UT2k4 and everything is fine, but for some reason the dodging doesn't work anymore. It's enabled in the settings and I have set sticky keys off. Tried lowering the delay and it doesn't work even in single player, so it isn't a server setting. Any idea what's the problem? :(

The picture looks like a mess on LCD's if you don't use the native resolution. Your system might struggle with newer games, be prepared to lower details etc. :P Of course you shouldn't have any problems in desktop use. Never heard of Viewera. I personally don't think it's a good idea to buy a monito...

I don't understand the hate towards LCD.

My CRT blew up last week (Samsung), so I went for a LCD this time (Samsung again :P). It's better in every area. Super crisp picture, vivid colours, deep black, no ghosting at all.

The "Reduce DVI frequency on high resolution displays" is checked.

My card is X800 Pro, so I think it should support 1440x900.

Going to contact the shop if they have any idea.

Resolution related LCD problem

I just got myself a new Samsung 940BW monitor and all is ok otherwise, but I have a small problem with the resolution changing. The native resolution of the monitor is 1440x900, but changing it to this using the Windows control panel or in a game causes the screen to mess up. All other resolutions h...

Well the temp sensor on my mobo (Abit KV8 Pro) is somehow screwed too :P , so I have to reboot it few mins after cold boot (otherwise it reports temps too high and ends up shutting down the PC). The artifacts appear after the second boot and go away when I boot again. It's probably nothing to worry ...

Well the card is few years old. I did try overclocking it long time ago (like a year or so) and this started just few weeks back. The temp monitor doesn't seem to work atm :o , but the temp can't be high, since this happens right after starting up. It goes away on restart and like I said, I never ge...

White "noise" with X800 Pro

This just recently started to happen with my X800 Pro (Connect 3D) : occasionally when I boot my PC, there's this white flickering on the screen : http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/1886/huh9bh.th.jpg This goes away though when I restart. I don't think my card is overheating, I never get any problem...

Installing + using Apache Ant

I need to make a small programming exercise using Apache Ant. Now I'm a complete noob when it comes to Java (only familiar with C/C++), so I'm a bit clueless. I have the Ant 1.6.5 binary, now how do I start using it, install etc. ? (my system is Win XP Pro SP2) Hints and tips how to get...

According to Merrill Lynch a PS3 unit will cost Sony around $494 to produce. Sony is rumoured to be planning on selling it for $400.

Of course when it comes out, M$ has probably dropped the Xbox360 price from the already cheaper $300.

We'll see how Sony can handle this. :P

There are no such sites. The ones that exist only sell you some crappy p2p program that uses kazaa, gnutella etc. networks or they steal torrent files from torrent sites or whatever (from what I've heard). Don't waste your money. :)

Search instead of open

When I double-click a folder or a hard drive icon, for some reason Windows opens the search window instead of just opening the folder for viewing.

How can I restore 'open' as default function for double-clicking a folder? :(

I'm using Windows XP Pro (SP2).

SoF2 is still going strong. :) (at least in europe) I still play it every now and then. Real Damage mod seems to be the popular thing now. It's the most played MP FPS for me too and I feel one of the most underrated. Great game (MP, SP sucked hard  ) and great fun to play.
