be forewarned that any macbook is going be missing plenty of 'givens' that I wasn't even aware of before using a macbook pro from work... 1. no home/end 2. no insert 3. no forward delete key 4. no pageup/pagedown 5. no hardware radio switches (bluetooth or wifi) 6. no video out ports (without expens...

Re: File Copy Woes in Windows 7

I gave up. I put the drive in another computer I use regularly and everything is working fine on that computer.

It must be the cheap motherboard.. (it IS an ECS..).. I'll have to try to get a nicer one.

Thanks for the suggestions JBI, I've actually just tried a couple of them.. and I forgot to mention beforehand I've already checked for any newer drivers / BIOS updates.. nothing newer than what I've got. I removed the two IDE drives from the system to try to make things less complicated and take le...

File Copy Woes in Windows 7

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm afraid I'm having a very frustrating problem with simply moving files around between two internal hard drives. I got a new 2TB SATA drive for Christmas that I want to use as a backup drive in my main workstation, a dual-core Intel 8400 in a micro-ATX G31 board with 4GB ...

Re: Why don't people like Norton/Symantec IS/AV?

I guess I'm in the minority for simply choosing not to run any anti virus? I like my windows installs to be as lean as possible.. I v-lite them, strip out IE, MSN, and lots of useless services, put in firefox (and recently chrome), and make sure I'm getting all updates.. and haven't had a virus in ...

I would love to see someone actually use 300 tabs..

i just can't imagine any scenario where that'd be useful. unless you just keep leaving everything up that you've been looking at for a couple days.. but what's the point of that? we have history for a reason, no?

Re: $5 World of Goo

I picked it up yesterday and played through the first chapter. It's a pretty cool game, definitely worth more than $5. I still can't beat the level Impale Sticky though; I must be missing something obvious because I can only get about 15 of them to the end. Just put each piece on with the knowledge...

Re: Lian Li announces PC-888 - Wild Case!

To be honest, there has never been much innovation in the chassis department for years. There are only so many ways to work with (x)ATX form factor. Oh, I disagree. There have been a lot of things to change in cases over the years. HDD mounting systems, removable motherboard trays, 120mm fans, door...

Have you considered the gigabyte 3d mars? it's classier than the antec 900 and all aluminum, and it has two choices of side panels included..

great case for the $... but a little pricier than $80 as others have found here.

There are plenty of affordable cases that don't look too crazy.

The well-loved coolermaster RC-690 comes to mind..

i think the economies of scale that's gone on recently is mind blowing.

getting a decent core 2 duo laptop for ~$500 is mind blowing to me when you think about all the technology involved. a computer with 1/10th that much technology cost thousands and thousands just a few years ago.

Re: Sonata 3 vs Antec NSK 4480

I don't know why everyone thinks the P18x is a huge case. It's a standard mid-tower chassis. Like JAE pointed out, it doesn't even fit the really big graphics cards all that well. Now the Cosmos.. that's a big case. Do you guys really find fan filers useful? I'd rather use a canned air once every fe...

I'll just add to the praise for the P18x series.. a P182 for $75 would be a fantastic choice. If the extra hard drive cage is in the way of your video cards, you can always remove it! :)
