Re: What to do with old PC?

Too power hungry for anything you could use it at home as a server. To be fair it is still a decent low-end PC for someone who does not have any and seeing that you would not get much for it in parts or put together I would suggest to donate it to someone who would appreciate to have a PC. They can...

Re: Coffee Lake 6 core, this August with z370 chipsets?

Also, we're getting vastly off topic here, if it suits me or not is irrelevant, either Ryzen 8/16 @ 4ghz will suit me, or Coffee 6/12 @ 4.2ghz (or higher, presumably) will suit me. One of the 2 systems will beat my current one. I personally suspect if the Coffee Lake exceeds 4.5ghz and is otherwise...

Re: is the Toshiba X300 any good?

Well guys, I kind of put off purchasing a 4TB drive at the moment due not needing the extra storage space just yet among other concerns. On top of this, I also like having the near silent operation of my system due to having SSDs as well. But thanks for the commits and help. I may however buy a x300...

External USB3 hard-drives are cheap for stuff that won't fit on your laptop's internal 1 TB SSD. 4 TB SSDs are more expensive because the cheapest SSD lines top out at 2 TB. Crucial MX300 (up to 2 TB): $268/TB Mushkin Reactor TC (up to 2 TB): $275/TB Samsung 850 Evo (up to 4 TB): $374/TB Speaking o...

Heads up guys, the Saints Row games have a major discount on Steam with Saints Row 2 being free for limited time. Now while I have had Saints Row IV for a while now, I haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

Re: What are the best offline games?

Obviously totally subjective, but for me it's Civilization IV. I can always pick up where I left off or just start a new game and my W10 tablet can run it for at least 4 hours in offline mode with brightness turned down (as usual). I'll play that when I'm traveling (plane, hotel) and can't count on...

Well I just brought the game Sunday on Steam. At first the game wouldn't start, but after typing in "STEAM_RUNTIME=1 steam" in the terminal today the game plays just fine.

I played it for an hour so far and it is as good as I remembered the last time I played this back in "99 or '00.

Disappointed in the content/length of a $45 game. Still unable to finish it. Played bug free until near the end. The game loop continues to get stuck in the room with the bloom and all it's maw beasts. Eventually I cannot skip my turn, or perform any action. It always seems to happen after I ge...

OK from reading the various reviews of the Ryzen 7 and 5 CPUs out there, it seems to me that the ones with the 65W TDP rating are bundled with the wrong HSF. shouldn't they be shipping with the Stealth cooler instead of the Spire? Re: Poll: Ryzen RAM amounts

Why would RAM amount depend on CPU choice? Shouldn't this just be "How much RAM would you want if you were building a system today?" I fully agree, but not everyone seems to, and that's the biggest reason this poll exists. Well in my case, if I was building a Ryzen mITX box using the 1700...

Re: 4K on a PS4? Yeah right, when pigs fly.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Scorpio is priced at $600 to $700 at launch plus the cost of a 4K TV if the buyer doesn't already have one yet. That'd be pricing it as a PC, not as a console. If the performance is there a high price is cool. The PS3 launched at $600, but many people considered it go...

Re: 4K on a PS4? Yeah right, when pigs fly.

Well Microsoft did say it is going to be a high end product. If it is capable of 4K(even barely) we can reasonably expect that it will be more expensive then the Xbox One was at launch. They also said it was going to be priced as a console, and the original X1 included Kinect. I'm expecting 450 or ...
