Re: So, mechanical keyboards

I have issues with most mechanical keyboards because I like super-light keys and most of the designs are above 60 cN. I discovered a old NMB keyboard with "space invaders" switches... and I hope it doesn't die any time soon because it's near-perfect. If you're curious: https://imgur.com/a...

Saving change fo new PC in three years.

I have a 24 oz container about a quarter of of change and other one of the same type half full with food(stale?). My plan is save up any change and once both of them are full or three years passes, and cash in the change for building a new system. I will going back to school so working part time is ...

My less stable and less smooth main home system is Asus ROG Strix X370-F + Ryzen 5 1600 @ Auto The "@ Auto" explains any problems you're having. The very first thing I do upon booting a new system is to turn off any automatic BIOS overclocking crap. I'd rather not have my voltages and RAM...

Re: How bad is Windows 10 Really?

If Arch/Manjaro are requiring reboots every time you install updates, they're doing something wrong. In general, the only time a reboot is necessary on Debian/Ubuntu is if you're replacing the kernel or device drivers. And even in those cases, you're free to keep working and postpone the reboot unt...

Re: How bad is Windows 10 Really?

There are plenty of things about Windows update which are annoying, but it works well at what it does. The only time I've encountered multiple reboots is during a not-a-service-pack update, or after a fresh install when there's a whacking huge number of updates available, and now that I think about...

Re: How bad is Windows 10 Really?

From my own experience and from what I'm hearing about Win10 updates, Manjaro does the rolling releases much better with fewer issues, and those issues are fixable. However you do need to keep with the updates, otherwise you will need to reinstall if you wait too long. I will bet you all the money ...

Re: How bad is Windows 10 Really?

You just have to put up with a fairly innocuous activation prompt if you don't want to pay. To my surprise, this recently disappeared from the desktop of unactivated systems. I have a couple of Blue Iris systems that run 24/7 and haven't been activated ever, and they just sit there and run (exactly...

Domes with mechanisms to actuate them when they collapse rather than at the bottom of their travel are still available. Often under the name semi-mechanical or similar these days. Unity was vaguely Mac-ish, so I am not surprised that our resident member of the Cult Of Apple thought it was decent. Yes, it was simple and (mostly) consistent. That's really the best thing I can say about it. Aside from that, it was too much of a compromise, and got in my way more than it helped....
