THe Raspberry Pi 400 Keyboard Computer.

OK I have reading and watching reviews on this little keyboard computer for a few days or so. Now I'm into the Maker Hobby or what they call that, so I am not into Single Board Computers. But here: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=raspberry-pi-keyboard&num=1 https://arstec...

My own Slasher Parody Movie???

Maybe I'm just having way too many Racing Thoughts here but, stop me if this has been done already, but producing a Parody slasher film complete with a little girl still in diapers and has pony tails wearing Hockey Mask w/ toy chainsaw... On Halloween. "Oh how cute, a little girl dressed as Jas...

The Tech Report looks dead to me. It's a pity. It has been my primary source of information about pc's for years. Personally I do think that whoever owns Tech Report should just simply sell it to those who desire a proper tech site and Forum... If a known, established, trusted member of the TR comm...

Re: Used Cooking Oil Thieves? There's much money in that?

Short answer, yeah. There are companies that exist off of legally taking that grease and converting it, either to new cooking oil or bio-fuel. So clearly there is money to be made. Diesel is selling for an average of around $2.40 per gallon right now - and that 150 gallon tank behind Burger King as...

Re: How common was CP/M usage on the Commodore 128?

The resources that Commodore spent developing the Amiga should not have been diverted to upgrading the C-64 or C-128. Given that both the C64 and C128 were cheaper and had a huge software library available, I will have to disagree. And then there is the Good Enough Rule. Commodore didn't divert any...

Ahh, OK. I see where you're coming from. Yeah, 20/20 hindsight is a bitch, isn't it? TBH they subsequently got it mostly right with the Amiga. But ultimately it didn't matter, since the IBM PC (and clones) and Apple Macintosh were about to steamroller pretty much everything else into oblivio...

Re: How common was CP/M usage on the Commodore 128?

CP/M may have been past its prime by then, but it still had a huge (for 1985) ecosystem of applications. Keep in mind that the C64/C128 were always intended to be inexpensive machines that anyone could afford. I'm not sure what you're getting at with your mention of a potential C64 upgrade path; th...

How common was CP/M usage on the Commodore 128?

So reading about the Commodore 128, it seems due to CP/M being past it's prime and the C128 slower CP/M mode, that applications for that old OS was used all that much. I have to wonder why Commodore even bother with supporting it in the first place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_128#CP/M_m...

Note: The only bears I've even seen were Polar Bears at the St Louis Zoo back in my late teens(?). I certain wouldn't know what I will do if any bear was that close to me. Soil myself in fear? Run away screaming? Which would be the worst thing to do by the way.

This thread slightly confuses me. DAZ 3D is the company name, folks. Which product are we talking about? That's my confusion. There's DAZ Studio, Cararra, Bryce, Hexagon, etcetera. Are you modeling your own assets with Hexagon, Blender (not from DAZ), or the like? What kind of rendering are you doi...

Re: Roasted peanut oil. Anyone cook with/or use it?

For roasted peanut oil? Don't think I've ever used it, so my answer would be "N/A". For regular peanut oil it's just whatever they have at the grocery store. Store brand, typically. For roasted sesame oil it's also whatever they have at the grocery store (which is usually Kadoya brand). W...

Re: Better to Build new System next Year?

Not sure if Daz3D makes use of GPU rendering (it didn't when I last used it, but that was eons ago so loads could have changed since then). If it doesn't, you'll benefit from a good multi-core CPU, so at the very least waiting for the RyZen 4000 series would be prudent. Either get one of them, or s...

Re: Better to Build new System next Year?

Well the only thing I would be keeping from my current Rig is my 30" 2560x1600 display. Or maybe one of the SSDs. While I did spend far more then I normally do when building a new system back in 2013, I did get my monies worth out of it by keeping this for seven years. Aside from a fancy keyboa...

Better to Build new System next Year?

Just from looking at Newegg and PCpartpicker alone, I'm wondering if I would be better off doing a new Rig sometime next year even if I had the money now to do it. That was what they had. I'm sure the recipe called for something more neutral like canola or corn oil. So why didn't they just go to store buy some? I don't recall. Might've been in a hurry because they were making it for a party. That's probably it since IIRC it wasn't anyone in my immediate famil...
