Re: Go Canyon or i7-5xxx.

mmm... 18% OC... Might rethink the build and see what happens in Q2 with those 5xxx, have gotten an overclock of 3999MHz with a Mobo limited max of x42 for my Cores. The Asus BIOS makes it really easy and the Temps are fine. Multi Core OC is 4GHz v1.105 maxing at around 52c (real temp gt 3.70) Singl...

Re: Go Canyon or i7-5xxx.

Some interesting feedback about over-clocking, now this may sound odd but when I OC my Crucial 128GB M4 SSD doesn't register on post! :-? My setup is a Asus P8Z77-V LK + 16GB Corsair XMS3 (1600MHz) from Nov '12. I have another Crucial m500 240GB that works just fine when OC'ing. IMO the M4 is on it'...

Go Canyon or i7-5xxx.

So am building a gaming rig, normally I'd just get an i5 due to GHz being better on single threaded tasks, currently running a an i5-3470, like to sell on old rig before it's overly dated. But now there the next gen i7-5xxx coming on line, but the i7-4790k devils canyon would appear to be king of th...

Re: Far Cry 4 has been confirmed!

So do you save the girl or avenge the girl in FC4? Or are you the girl? These titles are all becoming so predictable and monotonous in their premise and plot. I hope she's a really good looking girl, at the very least. :-? What fc3 was bros before whose, you save your brother. I'm hoping you have t...

Re: Far Cry 4 has been confirmed!

Have to say, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with FC4. Really enjoyed the gameplay of FC3 and Blood Dragon is great fun, very funny. FC3 main story is complete crap, but gameplay makes up for it.

IMO, at this stage 801.11ac is about to start taking off, but there's still a price premium. I'd suggest you get yourself onto the 1Gb WiFi bandwagon while it's hot.

Re: Building advice for Small gaming rig

That SG04-FH is small, it's a pity the PSU goes over CPU, otherwise that would be an awesome case. Here's how someone solved that problem: http://www.slideshare.net/MLROlson/silverstone-sg04fh-matx-case Silverstone recommends the NT06-E . That's Genius!! It's great to see clever engineering at work

Re: Building advice for Small gaming rig

My current gaming rig is i5 3570 with the vm tech and is being moved over to run as a VM rig, has 16GB. I work with DBS and java middleware so plan to run lots of Linux vitrualboxes on that older kit. Great for sand boxing Next system is gaming only and needs to be small. for starters it will runnin...

Re: Building advice for Small gaming rig

@DPete27 I normally buy high end stuff, that way I do a refresh about every 2 years, sometimes skipping a Gen. Might overclock, but there's very little between i5 / i7; except for the price. I might still go i5-4670k. IMO we will see better use of Mutli-core in future games because of the XB1 / PS4...

Re: Building advice for Small gaming rig

@Chrispy_ That Fractal Arc Mini looks nice, but am pretty sure the internal drives will be in the way of the GFX card. Had the same problem with a Gigabyte case. If you are are seriously interested in the Arc Mini, the drive cage is split in two, the top three drive bays can be taken out to give lo...

@JustAnEngineer Wow! that SG04-FH is small, it's a pity the PSU goes over CPU, otherwise that would be an awesome case. are you looking for a cube, an xbone or a vcr type profile? Haven't really got a preference, was looking at something like the Zalman ZM-T1 Mini-Tower Black , but it has issue with non standard PSU sizes from reading reviews. Would looking for something like a Mini-Tower, not a VCR / Desktop type d...

Building advice for Small gaming rig

Looking to build a new system, needs to be very small but still pack a punch and host a GTX 780 (no SLI requirement). Was thinking mATX but have never built a system in that size class. Overclocking isn't important but it's something I might do down the road, so will be picking up the K part. Alread...

Re: any reason to get 16GB RAM?

I've 16GB in my Laptop for the simple reason it's dirt cheap to buy.... but realistically I'm always in the 5-7GB of RAM used. Now if I fire up Adobe Photoshop or Premier then I start seeing value for money or a couple of VM's since I run Linux in A VM for work reasons. But gaming I never use more 8...

So you're saying Wizard should have red gems on weapon and go for those +8-12 etc dmg rings. I was wondering about that. That's what I do, dropped 35K on a +15 DMG Perfect Square Ruby for the weapon, a must IMO. They output sooo much damage you have to kill them as quick as possible. Otherwise you ...

The game lacks play styles if you play a Wizard then you pretty soon learn the best way to take down a mob, but there's only one good way to do it. What is your way? I have a 46 Wizard and I figure I'm probably doing it wrong. I kitt like a scardy bitch! http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard...

Re: Diablo III

Diablo III is fun for a couple of play throughs. No AH needed for first play though, by the second it was either farm for better weapons / armour or buy them in the AH as all the merchants are rip off compared to AH. IMO the game is imbalanced, the AH needs different rooms 1 hour sell, 3 hours, 6 ho...

Re: Good weight cage?

There's not much to a weight cage, once it will support the weights you're working with. There are some that come with options like a pull up bar. Some are mini-mutligyms. Really depends what you want to do. In general free weight and a bench are much more useful for all round muscle gains. Unless y...

Played Crysis 2 for about an hour tonight, the 3D isn't as noticeable as other titles I've played. Not sure why but once you look at something more then 15 feet away it all starts to look flat. This is the only game I've seen this in. Also the cut-scenes that look like there's real-time rendered are...
