Re: Talk me out of it!

If Ryzen 2 really is around Feb I think I'll wait. It gives me time to recover from taxes, holidays and other expenses. Hoping that Ryzen 2 will increase clock speeds without eating into manual OC territory. Would also like to see the base/turbo differential widen. When you see a 3.6 base and 4.0 t...

That apparently didn't work, even after running it twice (since the first time I ran into an Internet connectivity issue). Guess the "slow way" it is, then - referring to my laptop. (I do use some of the apps.) They just fixed some related crap (apps that wouldn't uninstall on a new profi...

Re: Talk me out of it!

ECC support not being common even with Ryzen because of motherboards was sort of a let down. I was willing to pay the premium for the ECC on my rig knowing I'd take a small hit in performance for stability. That sort of went out the window thanks to most boards I liked not being available with ECC ...

Re: Windows 10 Fall Update Build 1709

Looks like Microsoft made another kernel level change to the graphics subsystem. WDDM has incremented to version 2.3 now. I'm presuming that means you won't be alone in dealing with some oddball graphics quirks for the next few months as AMD, Intel, Microsoft, and NVIDIA work out the bugs. These WD...

Worth testing, BTW. It would be fascinating if it can't do FS1, albeit all AMD GPUs currently do FS2 so I'm not sure how you'll test that? Rollback to an ancient driver before FS2 support? I just checked. It works with Freesync but I don't know a way to check which. They might even have added HDR s...

So that basically says Freesync 2s functionality is only attainable with an enabled card or video player. It doesn't specify that it's a separate mode from HDR10. It specifically says that Freesync 2 is a compromise in visual quality for the sake of input lag. Compromise = trade-offs = not full imp...

Do you mean FS2? Well, yes, I'm guessing AMD might license their proprietary FS2 tech for money, but you can say the same thing of GSync. I think we all know how that's going to turn out. Yes, AMD is offering it openly to other manufacturers, and I'm guessing they'll decline. It is still possible M...

HDMI FS and FS2 are proprietary and Intel and NVIDIA will never be able to use it. Can FS2 HDR and HDR10 coexist? ...

this monitor is only useful to current and future AMD GPU users. Or anyone who wants a 1440P144 (+4k60) HDR multipurpose mon at a reasonable price, there isn't really that much competition in that space yet. With Freesync 2 also being useful on Xbox One X it certainly will have more reach than AMD ...

Great monitor, though win10s current HDR handling is still a ? with all the non HDR games that won't launch with it enabled and all that. I count four common between my HDR displays so far, and that's probably not even remotely all of them. (And yes, HDR works fine on it without Freesync enabled.) M...

Last I checked, no TVs accepted over 60Hz input signal for 4k. Though there are some that do so at 1080p. They didn't say input. Many TVs will take a 60hz input and turn it into 120.
