Ahh. I didn't get mine until the Sunset Overdrive bundle. (Then again I don't really use the disc drive. Heh.)

Re: PS4 Future

It's a surprise to me that it's a surprise to you. Microsoft never made reliable console hardware. I went through 2 OG Xboxes, 3 Xbox 360s, and 2 XBones. I can't help it, though - their exclusives have generally been really great. Now that they're doing "plays everywhere" I don't ne...

I loved those Sonatas. I should go back to em.

I can't really complain about the 100R Silent Edition post build though, I just didn't like it when I was putting it together.

Re: PS4 Future

I've had two Xbone failures. The first was the disc drive died about 3 months out of warranty, and a couple months later the hard drive crashed. It would power on but not detect the internal drive where the system software was. The second one died in-warranty. Controllers couldn't connect either vi...

Apparently it does do cross device multiplayer. Still working on the download but add dwLostCat. (Dimension W, since you didn't want to know but I'm telling you anyway.)

Re: PS4 Future

Yeah, I doubt you'll see 4K BR support for at least another few years. Xbone Scorpio does/will support 4K UHD only with the upcoming console so at least there's that. Any possibility you'd want to migrate to MS? Xbox One S already has the 4K Blu-Ray Player and upscaler so that's not true. (I think ...

I don't think it can support 4K Blu-Ray discs. The hardware isn't in it, from what I've read so far.

Is it crossplay? I'm downloading it on the X1 rather than the PC because the video I saw didn't look terribly impressive.

Re: What cases and PSUs are you guys using?

Corsair 100R Silent Edition at $60 Not my favorite case overall, but I do mostly like the internal layout. Just a lot of little things about it that are bizarro. Antec 850W HCG-M was $90 at the time. Massive overkill for my usage, but it works. I think it was on sale, I needed something for the 290 ...

"... anyone know of any good guides or review sites for speakers/sound bars?" I'll throw in my $0.02 regarding soundbars. About 5 yrs ago, I purchased an inexpensive Visio soundbar that did not include a sub, based on a number of positive reviews that claimed that it was good for movies a...

In this case whether you plug in something at the back of your computer, or at the front headphone jack it all directs to the same "Speakers" output. There is no directing Skype voice to one while using the other for games. At least on my Realtek it offers you an option to use the front a...

It's been off, and I ensured it was still off. It now only pops up with the File->Open dialog on a few applications, but it's still incredibly annoying. I'm not really using it for movies or games yet...it's just set as the output for everything. I wish I knew more implementation details. At the very least it's odd that it won't let you set a specific resolution/bitrate with it enabled. I suspect MS will be making XAudio 3 (or something new related/...

Re: Your Ryzen Overclock - RAM Speeds Please

I read some topics about my question. CPU and RAM overclock dont damage PC system in long term. Depends on the heat and how stressed the components in question get. You can damage components, but damaging the entire system is unlikely unless you're messing with voltage to degrees you shouldn't be. ...

I'm gonna say no. For most builds, having more cooling than you need is NEVER a bad idea. Keeps things stable and quiet and what else do you need?

Re: 7700k, wow!

The "future multithreading" thing is just another way of future proofing a machine. Maybe it works out the way you hope it will, maybe not. Maybe it takes 7 to 10 years for the things you were anticipating to become commonplace, and by then you need another new machine anyway. :P IMO 'Fut...

7950 is what a 280? OpenGL might not be the best use case for a quad or eight core machine but that's still far below what the new proc is capable of using I think.

This is mostly true if your target framerate is around 60FPS I find a lot of people justifying Ryzen on "future multithreading," just like Bulldozer. I won't argue that in gaming the 7700K is a better deal right now. For everything else, I'm not so sure. And I can't tell you if part of th...

Re: AMD Ryzen 5 or AMD FX?

Looks like the 1400 wins in benches, though I haven't checked all of them. The 1400 would be upgradable down the line as well and that's always good for a new build. Coming from an A88XM+A10-7850K myself I know it would bug the crap out of you to have a decent new machine that can't really be upgrad...

No one is buying a Shield as a Switch substitute; Switch buyers (or oglers) want Nintendo software. I can only speak for me, but I've been eyeing several gaming tablets to get while I wait for the Switch software market to improve. So 'no one' is definitely inaccurate. I don't know, but it's NV. They're already past where you'd think they'd stop supporting it since they just released an Android 7 update, and it's likely they'll support it at least until they release a new tab IMO.

Unless battery life is actually a concern, it seems like a great device.
