Re: ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F - Anyone Using?

I'm going to be reusing my Corsair 400r case so it wouldn't matter to me if a board was ATX or mATX. If me getting an ATX board means they have more room to put higher quality components on the board or they don't cut corners with the number of headers, ect... Then I'll take the ATX board for sure....

Re: ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F - Anyone Using?

I'm supposedly getting a windfall soon. If it happens, I'd like to buy that board to get my system back in shape. If it doesn't, I'll just finally RMA my Gigabyte. It worked well enough for a while. I could technically do it now, just been a bit preoccupied with my Xbox One X and my brother skiing o...

I'm actually thinking about replacing my bombed motherboard with a Strix. Much better audio codec and NIC on it. Depends on fundage.

I gotta finish testing on the thing now that I can afford to send it in for RMA, heh.

I think with Ryzen+ you'll need to update the UEFI to make it work, which could make things awkward for new systems for a bit.

I'm very much starting to believe I should never be an early adopter of PC hardware o.o

Re: Windows loves this folder more than a mama bear loves its cubs

I checked and don't even have that folder, beats me what it is. For my install the largest offender is the stupid Photos app, it's using 300MB of space probably all file cache. Second worst offender is something called "windowscommunicationsapps" at around 250MB I think it's a game. I rec...

Re: Windows loves this folder more than a mama bear loves its cubs

The Windows Runtime apps directories are protected from manual **** in manners I haven't figured out yet.

Easier to just uninstall the ones you don't use (where possible) and let Storage Sense deal with any orphaned files. Perhaps CCleaner does know how to deal with them, but it's hard to say.

So, by that comparison just glue eight 2006 "Conroe" architecture cores together and you have a 2018 "flagship" console processor. Which if correct, means the smartphone A11 Bionic already outperforms Jaguar in single-thread performance. Equalize the core counts and the A11 Bion...

And right now MS/Sony both seem focused on going the downsizing route. Err....PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are the flagship products, neither of which qualifies as downsizing. That's a good point! Fortunately, the Nintendo Switch isn't a tablet and doesn't have a battery... I'm assuming you were being sa...

I am more curious how it will affect consoles, when mobile devices are quickly catching up to consoles in hardware capabilities. They've been 'quickly catching up to consoles in hardware capabilities' every year that it's the year of Linux on the desktop, heh. As long as they rely on batteries, it'...

Windows Runtime apps can't install services. At all. They might be considered part of the overall platform though, since VR/AR/whateverR is a big thing right now.

Powershell is the only way to reliably install and uninstall Modern apps that don't behave. I'd strongly recommend you just try and find normal Win32 or Win64 API applications instead though; no matter how much the pro-Microsoft zealots preach the advantages of Modern apps and UWP apps, they do see...

My usual troubleshooting process for them:
Is Windows up to date, including video and audio drivers?
Do they work if I go back to the default antivirus?

If yes, problem solved and never use that antivirus again. :p

For example, if you minimize it, it keeps running but disappears completely -- not to be found on the start bar or in the system tray. You literally have to go back to the Start menu and relaunch it just to get the UI back. Notifications come through the Windows notification center now, so the 'UI'...

I'd probably be more excited about Destiny 2 if I could have played Destiny 1. Then again from what I hear it had major issues. Before The Taken King? Yeah possibly. After? I may or may not have expected more than it can reasonably do in the 4K arena, but in 4K with enhanced titles it still looks amazing (especially compared to the original Xbox One and PS4, but even PS4 Pros enhanced titles look weak.) This was a big reason I dropped Android with the Moto Droid Razr in 2012. Suddenly, "support" for the phone died and that was that. You'd think I'd have learned at some point, but apparently not. I figured they must've worked it all out by now. I mean, I'd still rather be on Windows Phone...

Good gods this makes me glad I don't use Windows anymore or did MS fixed this with Windows 10? Since using smaller SSDs is very common to use for boot/OS drives among geeks, I would think MS would fixed this issue by now.
