Re: Well, now THAT's disappointing lens behavior...

Now you're making me nervous. I just bought that lens 2 weeks ago! (I got a 5 year warranty instead of 6, though)

pls keep us updated on how it works out with Tamron's service.

Re: Getting Into The 35mm Film Thing

Going back to the topic of film. I bought a film SLR some time ago out of curiosity. I'm still shooting digital mostly, but from time to time it's a lot of fun and educational to play around with a film camera. Not being able to see the results on a LCD may need getting used to. You'll shoot less tr...

Re: close up lenses

I bought some of those for really cheap. You can see some samples I posted in this topic.
Considering the price I payed for them, I'm fairly satisfied. The main drawbacks for me were loss of sharpness (especially off-center), loss of contrast and heavy colour fringing.

Re: New problem

easier way is to assume a=3u

9u^2 -9u + 2 = a^2 - 3a +2 = (a-1) (a-2) = (3u-1)(3u-2)

Not sure what bird it is, but these appeared some ten years ago every summer. It seems that a zoo in the neighbourhood closed down and some of birds that were capable of surviving here in the Netherlands were released:

That's pretty cool. Nice depth-of-field. What aperture setting were you using? Well, my camera being a cheap, old point'n shooter, I don't have much control over my camera settings. I can play with white balance and exposure compensation, but that's about it. I'll buy a new camera in the near-futur...

If your university is a subscriber to the IEEE/IEE Electronic library,
go to http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/. A search on 'heat transfer' should turn up some interesting papers.

good luck.
