Re: RAM Appears in BIOS, but Not Win7-64

You should return the 8gb stick and get a 2x4.

Getting it to run "properly" could cause your system to be unstable.

Re: Rogue One

After watching this movie, I came to the conclusion that Rogue One = Starwars: Red shirt edition. I really, really, really wish that at least one of the characters... preferably the lead, had survived and maybe had some kind of parallel storyline that we didn't know before. Rogue one feels like...

Re: Win7 vs. Win10 for gaming?

Wasn't sure whether to post this in the software forum or here, but the only thing I use my desktop for much is gaming. I'm getting ready to build a new computer, everything ordered waiting for it to arrive. My old rig has a first time Win7 install on it and I've been ignoring the free upgrade to W...

Re: Card Slot - Yes or No?

The key for me is the "tons of storage." There is an amount of storage that is sufficient for me, to never need to swap out my SD card. I have yet to see any phone that reaches that number, even at the $799 + price bracket... not even close. It's not that I regularly swap out my 128gb SD c...

Can't be sure.

Lots of new and interesting things happening in motherboards, and, undoubtedly, THAT will be the deciding factor for me... Still, LGA 2011 is giving newer chipsets a good hard fight.

Re: Why install W10 instead of W8.1

Windows 10 = Windows 8.1 plus. There is NO reason to not upgrade from 8.1 to 10. All the privacy concerns are present in both versions, and 8.1 users will likely be forced to upgrade early, just like 8 users were forced to upgrade to 8.1. If the manufactured "controversy" of windows 10 is ...

I'm wondering how will take for someone to master the Steam Controller and not just get the hang of it? I have a cheap PC gamepad I brought from Walmart over ten years ago. Re: Doubling CPU performance, would anyone notice?

Yes. People would notice. 1) Most things aren't multi-threaded. Even the ones that are, are not optimized for it. 2) There are a lot of really, really bad, I mean noticably bad CPUs on the market. Doubling the single thread efficiency for these CPUs would make for a marked improvement on all sorts o...

why do you "make sure that no transfers are taking place before you disconnect?" Worst case scenario, whatever you are sending/recieving doesn't complete and you end up with a corrupted file. If it's an update of some kind, your PC will fetch it again, the next time you reconnect. If it's ...

Windows 10 is far and away the most secure OS MSFT has ever produced. Its core files and even active memory are insulated from any kind of tampering. Windows 10 (home/not pro) does this and lets you schedule when to restart your computer instead of nagging you every 4 hours. Windows 10 Pro lets you defer updates altogether.
