I'm fairly confident that either the Fiji driver theory is correct or it's a die shrink of Fiji.

Re: So who here is actually mining?

I am. Right now, I get approximately 31 MH/s from my slightly overclocked Fury.

I've decided that I'm going to fund any computer /software upgrades with only what I mine. I've already bought some games on Steam by converting Ethereum to Bitcoin.

Re: Vega FE Fire Strike, on par with GTX 1080

Hmm... The guy in the link says it wasn't holding a constant 1600 MHz during the 3DMark run. That could be due to a lot of factors including throttling (bad) or the fact that some sections of the benchmark are just less demanding (neutral). I'm inclined to believe the former because the less demand...

Re: Tell me about the new Crypto-Currency

I recently started mining Ethereum myself since my Fury spends its life idling around. Nearing 24 hours of Ethereum mining and.....color me frustrated. 1) I spent a few hours getting everything set up last night. It was no easy task. It just amazes me how someone good enough at coding/programming to...

Re: RX480 Remorse for not buying?

I don't care about power consumption either until it is high enough to make my office unbearably hot. That's why I chose a R9 Fury over the RX 480 8 GB. The Fury was ~$20 cheaper than any 480 8 GB with an acceptable cooler. I keep my Fury running with a BIOS mod that has the TDP/Power Limit set to 4...

I've always wanted to mess with a Pentium Pro system. I wonder how modern an OS you could run if you put your 200Mhz chips on that dualie Socket 8 board and loaded it with as much RAM as possible..... I believe the current Debian Stable ("Jessie") still supports Pentium Pro. I just checke...

Re: AMD Ryzen 5 or AMD FX?

Rather than start a new thread, only two chipsets are available for Ryzen in Micro-ATX size. A320 or B350, I assume the B350 is the best option as its aimed at overclocking and higher perfomance over plug-n-play type support. Either chipset had any bad press lately? I would recommend buying B350 ju...

Re: Flash your RX480 to an RX580

Fair warning: the VRMs on RX580s are far better than their 480 counterparts. The VRM on the XFX RS 480 was one of the worst 480 VRMs. Don't raise the power limit while it is using a 580 BIOS. Flashing the Sapphire RX 580 BIOS removes those restrictions but how long will the VRM section survive those...

I'll take a look at the benchmark later. Hopefully, it is as good as Valley for just exploring and relaxing.

Until HWBOT has it available for points, I probably won't take a serious stab at benching it, however.

Re: Poll: Ryzen RAM amounts

HEDT systems have the slots on both sides because they're quad-channel, so four sticks becomes the minimum to get a full-width path to memory (and it's really tough to run that many traces under that kind of load to slots on just one side). OCs might theoretically be slightly better when not using ...

Ryzen's issue with the combined score is well known among the overclocking communities of the 'nets. The fact that disabling the extra cores raises the score is interesting.

I haven't seen any. Gigabyte's Aorus brand motherboards have Intel networking chip along with a Realtek chip for dual Ethernet. ASRock's X370 Killer SLI/ac and above have Intel for networking. I can't imagine re-seating forcing a retrain unless one of the DIMMs had worked itself loose and wasn't being detected properly. The system doesn't have a way of knowing if you removed and reinstalled a DIMM while the power was off (unless you have different models of DIMM and moved them to differe...
