Pretty much when the power button is pressed nothing happens. It was working fine up until a few weeks ago (it's my parents computer). A friend checked the PSU and said it's outputting power correctly, and the motherboard's green light is shining bright. Any ideas as to what it could be? My thoughts...

Staring recently(I'm not sure when, I usually use an external mouse), the touchpad and buttons under it have stopped working for me. The keyboard is fine, and my external mouse works fine as well(USB), this occurs under both Ubuntu and Windows XP. Any ideas?

Looking at C:\wubi\disks\ I don't see anything, I assume that is bad, especially since I didn't delete anything, suffice to say it it up and deleted all my stuff I am going to be very mad.
I ran that(I have also run CHKDSK /f without the gui), and I have defragged, that doesn't seem to work, someone suggested that I backup the virtual disks, than reinstall wubi and replace the virtual disks, this makes sense since it appears the problem is external to linux, any idea?
