Sorry about the delay, but how do I even see who is available to draft?  I don't think we can see the keepers or anything until the live draft.  At least I can't figure out how.

Re: Recommendation for 2nd DSLR

Mirrorless or large sensor compact. I travel with my d800e and a Fuji x70. This gives me a pocketable option for the portions of a trip I don't want to have the d800 out due to convenience or security concerns. If you are buying a dedicated travel system to leave the d810 completely behind, consider...

I use White House Custom Color (https://www.whcc.com/) for most things They are just across town, do a good job, and have great customer service, product quality, and product breadth. I've also used MPix/Miller's in the past some. My experience with the ones you tried is similar - way better than cr...

Re: General photography thread [img heavy]

I hate that this thread as been abandoned for the last couple of months. I also hate posting multiple shots from the same place, but slightly less (and am too lazy to edit down further). Feedback is very much welcome. First black and whites in years - felt like B&W fit the setting. https://c2.st...

Re: Considering a full-frame DSLR

For the most part - you're far enough in to the "will do the job well" range that any drawbacks wouldn't be caught well y those comparisons. Focal length range. Aperture vs weight, prime vs zoom, personal style, handling, brand preference, and budget are bigger considerations Imo. My main c...

Re: Considering a full-frame DSLR

I don't doubt the Canon is very good, and at a minimum arguably best in class (a class that they have long excelled at). But with it appears like 1 (Canon-centric) guy having reviewed both it and a competitive lens there isn't really a ton of data out there - both from a "what testing methods w...

Re: Considering a full-frame DSLR

A few more comments: As with others, I'm skeptical how happy you'll be relying on a teleconverter. They have a tendency to disappoint, with the exception of extraordinary combinations. Also, if you want to dedicate so much of your kit to long focal lengths...is full frame the right choice? Your prio...

Re: Considering a full-frame DSLR

For big upgrades - always important to know what you're looking to improve and how. If you're on the fence about lens options - maybe find a stats utility ( http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/data-plot or similar?) to pull and collect info on your current shooting habits? Otherwise...know what...

Re: Intro photography books

The emrys beat me to the peterson suggestion. Very solid. Do you have specific photographic subjects in mind? A lot of good books are subject-matter docused. National geographic had a nice book that I'd liked discussing some of what works well for their types of shots also.

And now with a bit more time - liking SS's first mist shot quite a bit, and flip's second snow shot. The touch od color from what I assume to be oak leaves really adds to the impression imo.

Snow here in dreary Minneapolis is more like rain for now...

Yeah, I should try that. I already negotiated it up once though (before I had the other offer), to the "I could live with this" level. Not sure what the etiquette is here, but if I am going to turn it down as it currently stands I guess it can't hurt! I think if you're honest with them - ...

Re: General photography thread [img heavy]

I can see what you're looking at...in general your preferences seem to be a bit lower-contrast than mine based on what you've posted recently and this would bring the result closer to that. At a minimum a few localized adjustments to pull back the waterfall area and also kill the chromatic aberratio...

Very fun wide shot! I might have played with the background exposure a bit in PP, but that is more a matter of taste than anything. Pictures like this make me want to go to the Scandanavian countries. And Iceland. And maybe Greenland. Shoot. I need more money. Thanks - the landscape in Norway is in...
