Re: Corsair H115i , PC Idle temperatures spiking

https://youtu.be/Cxm3rdjl5dE Sound like this? If so it is a faulty fan. The bearings/brushes aren't balanced or on properly and wobble a little bit. Check to see if that fan looks to be running slower than the other. It may be slow to ramp up or not hit it's target RPM. If it doesn't keep up with a ...

Re: Ryzen 5 - Your Choice?

The i5 during Sandybridge was the best gaming chip. The i5 outperformed the i7 thanks to the HT performing terrible in gaming titles. Games also weren't taking advantage of much more than 2 cores back then, plus whatever background programs you were running. The same thing can be said about the i7....

Yeah I don't expect 8 core Ryzen to hit 4.5 until Ryzen 2, even then it would require overclocking.

Re: Windows 10 and Ryzen - Performance Bug

Really, if this becomes the norm. That is, being able to attain higher RAM speeds. Then I'm thoroughly impressed. I knew the RAM speed was going to be important and was curious why reviewers who initially tested Ryzen seemed to glaze over this. Perhaps they weren't aware of how important of a correl...

Re: "Business" vs "SOHO" Routers - Again.

I've been using Open Mesh for years and really dig their setup. Their web interface does rely on the Internet but you can choose to manage the units locally if you'd like. Latency isn't bad at all actually and they are fairly smart about a wireless client moving between ones reception to another. Ve...

Re: i5-2500K Overclocking Paraphernalia

Here was the article that sort of had me holding out some hope for milking another 2 years out of this build. Yeah, I'd need a much better cooler and I'd need some faster DDR3 RAM. If it weren't for the RAM I'd go for it and use the CLC for a future Ryzen build. But alas, I'm multi called anyhow. ht...

Re: i5-2500K Overclocking Paraphernalia

As in your chip itself died or just the system (motherboard or other components)?

Just curious as I've never seen an actual CPU die, and I've done at least mild-medium OCing on most of my chips. Usually the boards flake out first.

Now thinks a web interface run on the hardware right? NOT like the Open Mesh units I've setup where you go to their website, change configs and then wait for the settings to update once it calls back home right? Yeah Java... Uhhh. I've been happy to start uninstalling Java now that Chrome and Firefo...

Trolllololoolololoooolll..... Right? I mean this would be some amazing timing wouldn't it? If even a smidgen true, then we know what Intel was holding back on all of these years while milking the market for all it's worth.

Ryzen 5 - Your Choice?

For those of you who were waiting for the Ryzen 5 release of April 11th. Which of the chips do see yourself purchasing? Are you going lower end and overclocking? Picking up on the highest stock clocked chip and hoping to push it higher? Share your thoughts.

What did you replace it with?

I'm seriously considering the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X, just trying to determine what you DON'T get compared to some of the heavier UTM type devices like Barracuda, Sophos, Watchdog or the previously mentioned SonicWall.

Re: Questions about a incident I had with my old Rig

Yeah, sounds like damage on the board. Do you have another board/CPU to test in? It may be damage bear the CPU socket for where the PCI-E lanes intersect, so a new GPU may not help and could actually have a larger percentage of performance degradation. Gun metal blue... I really like my Corsair M95, however... I should have grabbed the M65 instead. Way too many button on this mouse that I rarely if ever use. The M65 was more up my alley. Ohh how I miss my Logitech G5 though

Re: "Business" vs "SOHO" Routers - Again.

I've still got an Asus RT-N66u serving and office with 15 computers, a server and a handful of IP cameras. The wireless network will usually have about 20 wireless clients and we've never had issues. This was one of the first N66u I installed. I've got some enterprise gear around at different sites ...

Re: Reinstall Free Win10 Upgrade?

Fresh Install of Windows 10 1.) Use something like Magic Jellybean to copy your current Windows 10 license (Just in case) - Windows 10 automatically ties a license key to your hardware, so no need to type it in again. 2.) Download Windows Media Creation tool, make sure you have a 4-8gb flash drive ...

Re: 7700k, wow!

Out of curiosity did you OC your 2500k? Since it is a K I'd sort of imagine you at least attempted a slight OC, or were you running stock? It was so easy to OC my 2500K to 4.3 from 3.3 that I actually forgot that I OC'ed it about a year+ ago, on stock cooling with no voltage increase. I only ask to ...

Yeah, just using the Stock HSF that came with the 2500k. I've played around with the 212 EVO on another build. IIRC it was the one that scared the hell out of me since it didn't come with the un-mentioned rubber standoffs and ended up scratching the motherboard close to some traces when barely being...

i5-2500K Overclocking Paraphernalia

So I'm at the point where my small auto OC isn't quite cutting it. In light of the new Ryzen processors and what feels like an inevitable onslaught of 6-8 core goodness that Intel will have to eventually respond with, I felt it a good time to squeeze my i5-2500 for all it is worth. However, dropping...

Yep, figured I'd check to see if I left any stones unturned. I've brought back machines that appeared in much worse shape, heck not even bootable. Other than this issue it appears to run great.

Will nuke it tomorrow. Customers HATE to start fresh like that /shrug.

Yeah it doesn't close any of the windows. Just seems like any programs that require certain plugins won't run. Thought it to be an ACL permissions issue, may still be. The Tweaking All-in-One program usually does great to set things back to default and repair this sort of problem, but it's one of th...

Windows 7 - Safe Mode can't run utilities!

It seems a new flavor of Windows 7 viruses are out there. This one has caused Windows even in safe mode to not be able to run many of the utilities that can get a hold of a disabled system. I'm unable to run many of the usuals like ADWCleaner, ComboFix, TDSSKiller ect. I'm also attempting to run Twe...
