Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

Wow, DP on a board that old is impressive. I wonder why they even bothered? This entire office is actually running on Rana 445 Athlon X3 chips still. A few of them I did the Asus 4th core unlock which was ultra simple and all of them are running rock solid. Man, can't we go back to those days!? Was ...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

We needed those APUs out NOW for office builds.. I'd like to see their integrated CPU's being used with boards that are cheap and properly support ECC memory. Yes, the other than I was excited for was ECC support and it's just not there at all. They didn't want to do any verification as it is proba...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

Longevity, it will kill anything they do now, but what happens when people start wanting to do basic VR with Facebook as a way to video chat with friends, something they never knew they wanted to do 2 years prior? It isn't the 6 core, it was the 4c/8t 1500x. It isn't a build for me or a friend eith...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

Why buy a 6-core CPU for web/email/office stuff in the first place? I don't get the usage case outside of some VMs/development scenarios (i.e. home professional uses where penny pinching doesn't make sense to me). Longevity, it will kill anything they do now, but what happens when people start want...

2008 R2 RDP Printing - WTH?

I've hit a wall trying to get this RDP or more accurately RemoteApp login to be able to print to the client machine. When connecting to the remote session it recognizes local printers on the system that we are connecting from. They of course show up as "Printer Name (Redirect 2)" as they s...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

On second look, the $70 1030's are all REALLY crappy small single fans. Those are going to be prone to death by dust and loud noise. The passive are a bit more and look the way to go but are closer to $75. At $80 you get into pretty much every RX550 which all seem to have a decent single fan design,...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

Yeah, it kills me to have to build a system with a 70+ card that is only going to be used to display websites, maybe the occasional Youtube video and email. This is where I feel AMD really dropped the freaking ball with Ryzen. We needed those APUs out NOW for office builds. That or have some Ryzen 3...

Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

It seems like the only option has been something along the lines of the GT 710. I was hoping for something a little newer than that for around $50-60. Ryzen not having integrated graphics until the APUs is really starting to suck for people wanting budget builds who want the extra cores but don't ne...

Re: TV Shows - Share Them (NO SPOILERS)

I couldn't do The 100 for the same reason you said, it was waaaay to YA film for me. Hell the opening music and the stupid banter/bickering just seemed so cheesey and unoriginal. I was also forewarned and told to make it to season 2 and then it gets good. I watched The Expanse the day they released ...

TV Shows - Share Them (NO SPOILERS)

So I've watched a few damn good shows as of the past few months and figured I'd share the good and bad. Maybe even hopefully help someone to avoid terrible ones. Stranger Things - Duh, so well done. West World (HBO) - Wow... just wow. If you don't read a bunch about the show, then you'll be in for a...

Re: RX480 Remorse for not buying?

Perhaps I recall info incorrectly, but I could have sworn people were talking 2 times + the power usage from a 480 to 580... I guess not. Even so, it's not the cost of the power that usually is why I and other care about power usage, it's the heat and overclocking headroom. It seems silly to pay som...

RX480 Remorse for not buying?

It feels like over the last 4-5 years this has become a regular thing. Or perhaps, I wasn't paying attention before hand due to lack of upgrades needed. I was considering getting an RX480 8gb, especially seeing them drop right below or around $200. Now of course that the 570/580 dropped the 480's ar...

Re: New Fiber, Can't get new router to work!

Good questions/suggestions Cheesy. I'd love for it to have been fiber, but that line is under buildings and cement from probably close to a decade ago, the line tests good though. We don't need the restaurant and hotel to be separate public IPs for any reason. We will have (once they finally deliver...

Re: New Fiber, Can't get new router to work!

Massive packet loss can mean any number of things. Since you said it works with the old router... I have a dumb question - is the new router interface set up for Auto? It's possible that one side or the other is set for Single-Duplex, and that will generate just this kind of problem. Question: Is t...

Have a clients building where they finally upgraded from a 2mbps down 768k up to a 100/100 squared business connection. Needless to say we want to have the new connection up and live. I've got an old Netgear FVS318g in place from the previous tech. The major issue is that not only is the old router ...

Re: Bose Q35 - Better Options

Overpriced is what it always has been and like I mentioned before. For it's cost, can an equal or better product be had for less money? I think this is a fairly normal expectation on whether something is overpriced. My Audi and Subaru comparison probably isn't exactly fair since Audi is much more of...

Re: Bose Q35 - Better Options

Why is asking if Bose is overpriced pointless? Because they are marketed as a premium brand, and charge premium prices, for products which can be (but aren't always) very good. Generally you're paying a significant premium just for having the brand name. They're sort of like the Apple of audio (App...

Re: Bose Q35 - Better Options

Why is asking if Bose is overpriced pointless? Its no different than someone who isn't really informed about say cars... Asks whether an Audi is overpriced over say a Subaru. It's a legitimate question. People tout the Bose as supreme and they are sold in the Airports, ECT. Don't know if you can get...

Bose Q35 - Better Options

Is there anything out there better than the Bose Q35 for someone wanting active noise cancelling when traveling by airplane? Re: Ideas troubleshooting all-in-one that won't start?

If you press the power button before any OS loads it should shut down immediately if it has all of the required hardware to POST properly. Yeah, sounds like you've tested most everything. The screen shutting off separately doesn't mean much other than their screen power and system power prospely are...

Re: Dell Hates AMD?

As to the OP's point to throw some arguments on the other side: Being a megacorp that has to support its own products Dell is going to want to wait until drivers and especially board BIOSs and memory issues get ironed out before it sells Ryzen products. Also Dell is probably the MOST interested in ...

Re: Ideas troubleshooting all-in-one that won't start?

Yeah when fans just spin up like that, it means it isn't reaching POST. So you checked the RAM already, you need to confirm video (which is on CPU so you can't) and then CPU. You can confirm 100% again that it isn't posting one of the three required hardware components. CPU, RAM, Video and of course...

How do you adjust the minimum range in OSD or the AMD driver? I have mine down to 30 from 48 using a driver I made but that would be simpler as I have to update the driver every time I update graphics drivers.  Gonna try to see if the pendulum demo shows LFC working, I'm on a 34um67 with a 30-75hz ...

Just like posters above described, games where I h...

Glad to see as of yet my OnePlus 3t isn't listed. Maybe I'm neive but I trust OnePlus as much as most of the "US" branded phones or Korea's Samsung. I mean this now the most popular phone for custom ROMs on XDA. With that many teams scouring through code that is wide open... If there was s...
