Re: Afterburner - Underclocking too low in desktop

To add a little more detail, this page has the clock profiles for the HD 7850. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_7850_HD_7870/29.html It should go to 300/1200 with a multi monitor setup but my experience with AMD cards though is that if the two monitors have the same timings (same resoluti...

Re: Afterburner - Underclocking too low in desktop

For now the only work around was to return the clock to it's stock/default clocks via Afterburner on a profile. I wonder if the GPU can't run at that 560/600 specifically so it goes into sort of a system boot low clock mode? It's been a long time since I dabbled in GPU Core/Memory clocking in detail...

Afterburner - Underclocking too low in desktop

Anyone have an issue with afterburner under-clocking their card while just browsing or a desktop interface? It drops my MSI 7850 Twin Frozr II down to 300/150 core/memory. This is causing the second monitor (via DVI) to flicker and have scanning/refresh issues, makes it fairly unusable. Oddly enough...

Re: Talk me out of it!

Ryzen APUs will be amazing because I can finally start to build basic office machines again with AMD and not worry about needing a discrete GPU. Raven Ridge isn't going to be useful for my own system though. I went searching and the Jan timeframe for Raven and supposedly Feb for Ryzen "2" ...

Re: Talk me out of it!

I'm just going to leave this here. https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.3615536 LOL, it is $200 more. Granted a more able CPU but not worth the price e premium over the 1600X. If you can get a 1600x with motherboard and 16 gb 3200 for under the cost of that Intel co...

Re: I/O of Embedded Computer - Project

Good information! I did come across a student in my town who did some sort of RPi integration with the older Laser 30 heater. He posted his exploding diagram on his Google+ page back in 2013! I sent him a message but even his Facebook seems to have stopped around 2013. Hopefully the guy didn't pass ...

Re: I/O of Embedded Computer - Project

I'll start looking into the voltages as a first start. If it is a digital display with physical buttons, what are the odds that it is an analog input/output? You are saying we would prefer it to be digital for the sake of easy compatability to the GPIO headers on the RPi?

Re: Talk me out of it!

True... I haven't really dabbled in VMs in a long time due to my lack of CPU power (i5-2500k). Not that I couldn't run them, I just wouldn't on a regular basis and would only be used for environment/OS testing. That would be another good reason for me to keep 32GB as part of my next build. I keep te...

Re: Talk me out of it!

Yeah, realistically I wanted 32GB. I didn't think it was a need, but when I've just been playing certain games my system RAM usage has peaked 12GB. I plan to start doing a lot more with my system, to include a YouTube type channel, streaming, video editing, ect. Soooooooo, 16GB could get used quite ...

Re: Talk me out of it!

/sigh... Like going to a crack house hoping to get clean :P You know, the cost of RAM is enough to make me shy away from this deal obviously not the deals fault... but to get 16GB of RAM running at the desired 3200 is insane. Cheapest kit is $150 and I'd have to make sure it is compatible and a dece...

I/O of Embedded Computer - Project

So I've been really surprised that the company that makes the heater for my little house (garage), doesn't have any "smart" functions available. Mostly because it would mean some ultra efficiency in my mind. I have a Toyostove 730, which is a newer model with digital display of a very popu...

Wow, DP on a board that old is impressive. I wonder why they even bothered? This entire office is actually running on Rana 445 Athlon X3 chips still. A few of them I did the Asus 4th core unlock which was ultra simple and all of them are running rock solid. Man, can't we go back to those days!? Was ...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

We needed those APUs out NOW for office builds.. I'd like to see their integrated CPU's being used with boards that are cheap and properly support ECC memory. Yes, the other than I was excited for was ECC support and it's just not there at all. They didn't want to do any verification as it is proba...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

Longevity, it will kill anything they do now, but what happens when people start wanting to do basic VR with Facebook as a way to video chat with friends, something they never knew they wanted to do 2 years prior? Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

Why buy a 6-core CPU for web/email/office stuff in the first place? I don't get the usage case outside of some VMs/development scenarios (i.e. home professional uses where penny pinching doesn't make sense to me). Longevity, it will kill anything they do now, but what happens when people start want...

2008 R2 RDP Printing - WTH?

I've hit a wall trying to get this RDP or more accurately RemoteApp login to be able to print to the client machine. When connecting to the remote session it recognizes local printers on the system that we are connecting from. They of course show up as "Printer Name (Redirect 2)" as they s...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

On second look, the $70 1030's are all REALLY crappy small single fans. Those are going to be prone to death by dust and loud noise. The passive are a bit more and look the way to go but are closer to $75. At $80 you get into pretty much every RX550 which all seem to have a decent single fan design,...

Re: Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

Yeah, it kills me to have to build a system with a 70+ card that is only going to be used to display websites, maybe the occasional Youtube video and email. Budget Graphics for Ryzen?

It seems like the only option has been something along the lines of the GT 710. I was hoping for something a little newer than that for around $50-60. Ryzen not having integrated graphics until the APUs is really starting to suck for people wanting budget builds who want the extra cores but don't ne...

I couldn't do The 100 for the same reason you said, it was waaaay to YA film for me. Hell the opening music and the stupid banter/bickering just seemed so cheesey and unoriginal. So I've watched a few damn good shows as of the past few months and figured I'd share the good and bad. Maybe even hopefully help someone to avoid terrible ones. Stranger Things - Duh, so well done. West World (HBO) - Wow... just wow. If you don't read a bunch about the show, then you'll be in for a...
