Contacts are gone!

I had about 100 contacts. Now iPad Contacts says "No Contacts". iMac Address Book says "No Card Selected". What did I do wrong? Better yet, how do I recover the contacts to iPad and iMac?

Re: Ethernet issues

I guess I'll go to the garage to see if I can find an old 3Com 3c905c or something like that. It sounds like a hardware problem. Either the wire or/and NIC is having issues. Yup. That's what it was. I installed the 905c and low and behold it connected. http://www.speedtest.net/rank/1659508514.png C...

Strange. The router's LED changed to amber while I was changing the BIOS settings. It is now green again.

Re: Ethernet issues

More info is needed, such as what type of router, It's a wireless Netgear WGR614 network topology, Not sure. It has an Apple and PC connected to a router via ethernet then to a cable modem. I'm using the Apple now. (is there an outside IP assigned from DHCP, or is it set static, etc.), Get dynamica...

Ethernet issues

Previously I had amber LEDs on the router and Act/Link of the mo/bo. I get all green after enabling LAN Boot ROM and Check LAN Cable in the BIOS. I know. Those changes should have made no difference. Connecting directly to the modem and restarting it and computer, however, produced the same results ...

Re: Software to identify my mo/bo

Of course nothing beats opening up the case and taking a look. Sometimes you need the board revision and there is no way to tell other than looking at the physical board. I was being lazy. My case has a window yet I was unable to see the manuf., model and revision. After reading your post I took an...

Software to identify my mo/bo

My mo/bo's RJ-45 does not seem to be working since disconnecting from wireless. To troubleshoot I 1st need to identify my mo/bo. What application can I use to identify it?

Re: Cable modem upgraded/cannot connect using router

The WGR614 is a ~6 year old design, but <1 Mbps throughput is pretty low for that generation. Plenty of potential causes: wireless performance degradation, logging/security features taxing the router CPU, just plain being old, etc. It could. A lot of routers have a WAN port that operates at 10Mbps....

Re: Cable modem upgraded/cannot connect using router

Curious. The download speed was 29,378 kb/s without the router and 603 kb/s (Apple) 468kb/s (PC) with. Is this correct? Does the router really choke it that much?

Cable modem upgraded/cannot connect using router

The cable company (Comcast) upgraded our modem and now I cannot connect wirelessly or wired with an iMac or a PC through Netgear's WGR614. Both computers can see the router but, apparently, cannot pass through the modem. Looking inside Netgear's Manager appeared o.k. Please help me connect again.

My entire family has been having REALLY slow internet for the passed 2 days. I don't know what it is since we have cable. How slow? What speeds are you expecting? Have you restarted the modem? Are the other computers also slow? Who installed the network? What changes were made prior to 2 days ago? ...

Re: Colors washed out on 2y/old imac

If it's a CRT then yeah they do fade over time, I was quite shocked by the amount of visible fading when I put my CRT next to my then new LCD which replaced it. It shouldn't be too faded after only 2years though, they do gradually fade but it should take quite a long time before it becomes really n...
