Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

We're actually planting yucca in Dallas...after living in the panhandle for a decade or more, the idea of actually planting a yucca is foreign to me. At least it isn't prickly pear; the nursery guy told my wife and mother they're impossible to kill and bloom so pretty but no way are either of us hav...

Re: What shows are you recently watching?

I binged River Monsters over 3 days.

I've been nightfishing for catfish...would love to land a big old channel cat or alligator gar :) C&R only for me with those though (they don't taste good).

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

No one had it physically in stock; I'd have had to order it. And with my number out on job applications right now, I really didn't want to not be able to have a phone for a couple of days :/ I don't know, maybe it was the wrong call but I was feeling paranoid. Though we are looking at that for my wi...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

yeah it was an old Lumina :( I liked it but I need something to hold a charge for more than 30 or 60 minutes if I'm actually using it, and more than a couple hours on standby. I'm just bitter and whiny about the state of lower end phones; it was like it went from utter crap, to as expensive as a nic...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

I hate to admit it but the store handled setting up all of it. SIMs weren't compatible (I didn't know that was a thing, don't pay much attention to cell phones) but they used this strange machine to get my contacts and number over.

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

My old windows phone died its' final death (draining batteries within 2-3 hours of standby, wifi not working)....so I wound up with an iPhone....god I hate OS, but there weren't a ton of options on short notice and I need a working phone with my cell number since its on job apps that're out.

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

It's not just HOAs; my brother lives in a small suburb without an HOA but with a real bastard of a city code guy. I keep telling him to run for council (it's Fate, TX, not a big city, he could probably win). Then work to fire the guy. Made some home modifications hellaciously hard over the (undefine...

As an update: i can't sleep, even after all the tums in the world, a good workout (god I hate goblet squats) and playing in the hot tub for an hour. Everything is fire.

Help me choose a speaker for my folks

I'm looking for an easy to use speaker for my folks gazebo. They'd prefer corded power, bluetooth connectivity is a must since they both use iphones. Decent sound, not over 150 or so? It's for a sheltered outdoor patio where they have their hot tub.

I won't have those till next billing cycle either though  If I'd moved 2 months ago it wouldn't be a big deal, but right now the district we're in is saying we have to register ASAP to get our kid in the school nearest our house

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Man, registering for school right after you move is a bear, particularly when they want photo IDs as proof of residence--when your state takes up to 45 days to get your updated ID to you. Ack.

Re: Computer cannot connect to network

finally got something working; I hooked up via ethernet again, and managed to find updated drivers for the USB wifi adaptor on Netgear's site and that's working. My intergrated wifi for the desktop still isn't and I'm giving up on it at this point. I'll buy my SIL another adapter to replace this one.

Re: Computer cannot connect to network

It shows up as a generic PnP in my device manager, and it gives me the *ding* sounding alert, but there's not even a prompt to install drivers and it doesn't show up in my networking connections:? I may use the laptop and see if I can dig up the drivers for it and dump them on a flash drive...I hope...

Re: Computer cannot connect to network

I've never used the wifi on this before; at our last place the drop for the cable was right by the computer desk so I just used an ethernet cable. The router is outputting a 2.4 ghz band. I tried connecting a 5 ghz USB wirless adaptor and the computer didn't even seem to recognize that (borrowed it ...

Computer cannot connect to network

The service is through Spectrum, the router is a netgear. Chipset is a Dell wireless 1705 802.11b/g/n 2.4 gighz. I've gotten my phone, my wife's phone, the smart TV, and the laptop all on the wireless network, but my desktop either does not see the network, or it sees it, and after I put in the code...

two sets of stitches in my foot last night (3 and 4). On the week I'm moving. They used the dissolving ones so at least I don't have to get them pulled later.

For 3-5 year olds! I'm just hoping I can find like swim lessons or gymnastics or something that isn't a team sport where they can just get lessons and be around other kids their age.

The older one really wanted to play t ball though.

Trying to find my kids activites to do in Dallas; I'm amazed how many toddler sports actually have seasons. And we're apparently too late for all of them.

Just trying to keep them occupied and help them make new friends after moving

One more reason to be leery of this internet of things trend I guess.

Re: STAR WARS TIME! - Spoiler Lock Lifted

I'm basing my statement about the Jedi needing to die on the portrayal of the council in the prequels than anything else; ineffectual, hypocritical, bloated. Yeah, it needed to go.

I think the prequels are still canon, but I could be wrong. But the Jedi Council from that was pretty crappy.

Re: STAR WARS TIME! - Spoiler Lock Lifted

Hell I agree with Luke that the Jedi, as they were, need to end. Given his character in the original trilogy, I actually think his retreating to hermithood made sense. The one really bleh part for me was the casino planet. I kind of get what they were going for; funky plans of desperation don't alwa...
