Re: How to supply internet to downstairs tenants?

I'm actually dealing with a similar issue right now. I'm helping a friend setup internet access to two of their tenants. They have a building that's been split into basically two apartments with separate bath/bathroom/kitchen but I think legally the city considers it to be one address and in turn th...

Re: Notebook connects to wifi, no internet

I've tried IE and Chrome. Chrome gives error 102 (connection refused) and IE gives its IE cannot display the webpage screen. *edit* I've now tried using a hardwired connection in my home and it still doesnt work. I've removed anything that could be interfering with the connection like AVG Antivirus,...

Notebook connects to wifi, no internet

Hey guys, I'm helping a friend troubleshoot a network connect issue and hoping to get some recommendations/solutions. He's got a Sony VPCF11FX notebook computer that seems to correctly connect to any wifi signal (his house, a starbucks, my house) but when a browser window is opened it acts as if the...

HDMI Audio and Monitor Inputs

I recently helped a friend setup a HP 2709M monitor that we've connected to a Sony notebook using an HDMI cable. My friend called me after I left to inform me that when the HDMI cable is conncted to the notebook, the notebooks headphone outputs no longer work as all audio is routed to the monitor. B...

Re: Can you upgrade discreet graphics on notebooks?

Thanks for the replies guys. I just figured since this model comes with four different graphics card variations (on top of the integrated Intel stuff) that it would be simpler to just have a socket.

Re: Can you upgrade discreet graphics on notebooks?

I don't know at the moment. The notebook should be delivered within a day or two. Are discrete graphics options typically plug in chips or are they permanent solutions?

Can you upgrade discreet graphics on notebooks?

I just bought a Lenovo Y550 notebook online and am awaiting delivery. The one I bought comes with the standard Intel integrated stuff that's perfectly fine for browsing, video and typing but I understand the Y550 had two optional discrete graphics options (both nVidia). The highest option was a Nvid...

Re: Should i sell my wife's horses while she is at her moms?

I'd approve most of the people getting a vasectomy :D Not just here, but maybe 70-80% of the global male population. Figure that ought to keep population grown down. Well then you'd just have a single guy impregnating more women. If you really want to stop reproduction you have to get to the root o...

Re: Updated build for sound editing

Wow, thank you all for the wealth of information here. Recording will be done from several input sources (mic, guitar, turntable) but not necessarily at the same time. A great portion of the mixing will be done once each individual source is recorded to the machine so having each source connected at...

Updated build for sound editing

Some time ago I asked for a recommend parts list for a machine that I was building for a friend (this was the thread http://www.techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=67502&p=959471#p959471). I got some great replies and had a complete system ready to go but my friend was not ready to in...

Many bicyclists seem to think they are above the rules followed by other motorists. Hopefully the ones that break the rules get to experience what it feels like to be t-boned by a car or truck as they run a stop sign or light.

It also seems to make everyone who uses it break into uncontrollable laughter. On one occasion I was sitting on a couch and my friend...

Re: Build for sound editing

I'd say the primary use (at least initially) will be mixing prerecorded content with newly recorded vocals (my friend already has a quality mic). It will also be used for beat production and occasionally recording from a keyboard, guitar, etc. Software wise we're looking at running stuff like Pro To...

Build for sound editing

A buddy of mine asked me to build him a machine and although I'll be able to piece everything together I'm not fully up to date on the latest components. His primary use would be editing and production work. He doesn't need a multi million dollar studio machine but something with accurate / quality ...

Re: Ghostbusters PC no MP

Who cares about graphics so much? All this game really needed to be was a good L4D clone with proton packs instead of guns, and ghosts instead of zombies. MP should have been in the core design, and not an afterthought. Actually no, thats just what you wanted the game to be. I've already got L4D an...

Re: Why does the itouch cost more then the iphone

I couldn’t see the link directly (stupid work filter..) but I'm guessing its because the iPhone is subsidized by AT&T and your monthly bill will eventually make up for the cost of the phone. The iPod touch doesn’t have a monthly fee to offset the price difference.

Re: Used car shopping

From my experience car auctions aren't the great deals they are made out to be. By the time you walk out of there you're not much (if at all) under the typical selling price you can get on Craigslist after bargaining with the seller. I checked out a few auctions before I bought my G35 and I actually...

Re: Is this an example of inflation?

I'm sure inflation has something to do with it but in general the cost of development has increased substantially over the years. Advances in graphics, sound and physics mean that more people are needed to develop a title in a timely fashion and each of them has to be paid.

I believe in "Kung Fu" his character was half white and half chinese. Although in Crank he played a gross 100 year old chinese man.
