Herkimer out of Seattle is the best coffee I've had. You can order it online. It's expensive but not terribly.

Re: Quite possibly the greatest car ever

LOL talking about modern Chrysler vehicles (which are garbage) on a post about Porsche is funny. Not even remotely the same league of vehicle. American corporations are too concerned with spending only enough to make a sale rather than spending however much it takes to make it perfect (as they're ab...

GTX 1070 Pricing?

What's with the GTX 1070 pricing? On Newegg a GTX 1080 is $550 and a 1070 is $499. Some of the 1070s are the same price... Is that because of bitcoin mining? I paid $350 for my 970 when it was new. I'd be down to spend that. I don't need a 1080 and who would by a 1070 for nearly the same price?

Re: Looking for recommendations - Dell U2415 / 2515 Vs Asus Eye Care Range

I dunno about how well it is for your eyes but I just bought an Asus PB277Q and absolutely love it. Since I'm still on a 970 I couldn't convince myself to buy a monitor with a higher refresh rate or G-Sync. So I got this for around $250 and I couldn't be happier. https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/PB2...

Yeah Dell is just an example. I've been building my own since 1998. Like I said, it's really about what you need it for (gaming, work, multi-threaded, etc.). Good luck :)

Re: Custom Builders

I really recommend against custom builders. If you want to just buy a PC then buy one with a solid warranty (like a Dell). I'd be surprised if you got the same level of service for the same amount of time. If a Dell breaks, you call them, and they fix it. Done. That won't happen with a custom machin...

Re: Building a new home network

It depends on what you want to do with it... The 8 ports really don't matter as you could go with less ports and use a network switch (more common). The gigabit ethernet is really only necessary if you're using a lot of bandwith on your local network. You're only as fast as whatever your ISP is prov...

Re: Windows 10 and Ryzen - Performance Bug

Not to be a downer but I never saw a reason to buy Ryzen in the first place. I really don't understand what all the hype was about. There wasn't anything there to prove Ryzen was going to be amazeballs. Sticking with Intel until I really have a reason to switch.

There's about a million and one posts/articles online saying the stock 4790k cooler is worthless... Even a H60 is gonna get warm... At full load I hit 60C with a H100i (with a slight overclock).

Re: Had terrible experience with SSD, any advice how to proc

Been running a Samsung 850 pro 512 for almost a year and it's been awesome. Aside from the issues with the 840 I think the Samsung SSDs are some of the best from reviews/longevity tests (I think from The Tech Report haha). Edit: It goes without saying, but I don't keep anything that can't be replace...

Re: Cable Modem Router 2 in 1 Suggestions?

Thanks for your comments! It actually *is* pretty common! I'm not sure I agree with this... I can only find consumer/enthusiast grade units from TP-Link (2), NetGear (5ish), and Arris (1). Given the vast amount of routers out there I thought there would be more 2in1's. What are the benefits of runni...

Re: Cable Modem Router 2 in 1 Suggestions?

You probably want a separate Arris Surfboard SB-6183 cable modem paired with a wireless router. Newegg has a couple of combo deals for $50 off this week. So this was my first inclination but I really like the idea of a 2in1... Better cable management, one point of contact for tech support, theoreti...

Cable Modem Router 2 in 1 Suggestions?

Looking to replace my Comcast rental modem and am thinking about going with a 2 in 1... Specifically a TP-Link Archer CR700. The reviews on the unit look good but I don't have any experience with a 2 in 1. Anyone have any experience with these? Should I just stick with the separate modem and router?...

Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k

The stock cooler for a 4790k is worthless. You could replace it with a Hyper 212 EVO for $30 and be way better off. There are tons of forum posts about hot 4790k's with stock coolers.

Re: Verdict on Samsung V-NAND (850 series) SSDs

Does this subject really matter? I'm using an 850 pro and it has a 10 year warranty. If you're worried about data loss you should be backing it up anyways or storing it on another drive. Also, I think Samsung is one of the only companies which builds all the components in house. Which I'm a huge fan...

Incoming power would be a problem inside a vehicle. I used to sell truck equipment and the guys running computers inside their rigs spent tons of money on high quality inverters with smoother power delivery.
