Re: Form factor trends

I don't know why mini ITX cases that are actually small aren't more popular. Most mini ITX cases are bigger than my current micro ATX case.

Check out the Antec ISK 110, if you don't need dedicated graphics or something other expansion card it's very compact.

Re: I sure wish I have a 40" 4K display...

Looking to get a 4K monitor myself. The 40" range sounds about right. I'll be moving in early December so I've been waiting for the move so I don't have to move another fragile item. Although the new house doesn't have an office, not sure where I'll setup my PC and desk...

I believe I've already told the story about the co-worker who insisted that her PC occasionally "ate" floppy disks. As in, she put them in, and they simply disappeared without a trace. Somehow, she had just accepted this as normal -- "yeah, it does that sometimes, I just go and get a...

Re: How long before your last build started to fail?

A week back my video card, an Nvidia 660 died on me. When I switched to my iGPU my PC would work fine except for a random restart every half hour or so. Got a new PSU and very thing is good now. Retested the video card, it still doesn't work with the new PSU. So 5 years from the video card, and 10 y...

Re: Netflix 2560x1440

My monitor is running at 2560x1440. Netflix is pushing an up scaled 1080P image to it. I'd prefer Netflix to show a 2560x1440 image on it, so I get the best image possible. Especially since the shows I am currently watching are available in 4k.

Re: Netflix 2560x1440

I have checked the info on Netflix using cntrl+shift+alt+d.

So you think to get 2560x1440 Netflix needs to stream 4k and then down sample.

OK, I think I'll up my internet service and then judge if I think it's worth it or not.

Netflix 2560x1440

Look for assistance. I can't get my Netflix to run at my monitors native resolution of 2560x1440. It only runs at 1080P. I have Netflix ultra HD, with a Kabylake 7100 cpu using the iGPU. I have windows 10 and am running Netflix thru Edge. I thought that was all the requirements. Although I don't kno...

Good question. I gave up pop a couple decades ago and that was my biggest issue. Now I just drink hard liquor neat. Less filler, and don't get sugar headaches after a night out.

I just bough the Steelseries Apex 100 and will be promptly returning it. There is no way to turn off the backlight. And the backlight is not only overly bright, but it also flickers once every second or two. All I want is a reasonable quality keyboard, that doesn't scream I'm 10 years old. Thought I...

Displayport 1.3 and 1.4 have the bandwidth to run 4K at 120hz.

With the tow plows the trailer wheels are steering in to the blade and pushing it hard sideways. The hopper of salt on top helps add weight to give the wheels more traction. No idea on how fast they go through tyre treads though. While it is possible to swap tyres on and off wheels, there is a fini...

It'd be interesting to see some benchmarks of 4/8 i7s versus 4/4 i5s at identical clocks for each generation to see the differences/generational changes.  I don't recall ever seeing an i7 come in lower on a benchmark than an i5 unless it was clocked lower, so if HT is ever a detriment, it must not ...

As they hold their intake valve open on the compression stroke (...

Seems overly complicated (prone to failure) for no real gain. My engines compression ratios are between 12.5 and 13.0 to 1. Their running the engine at 14:1, barely higher. Sure it has a turbo, but reduce the boost instead of the compression ratio to avoid the extra complexity. That and you don't ha...

Re: What's happening with monitors these days / in the futur

After reading about G-sync and Freesync, or the lack of it in 4K monitors I decided to wait on purchasing a monitor and GPU. 4K gaming requires a really strong GPU. You will need a 2016 Titan X or a SLI/Crossfire setup for 4K (I don't really recommend SLI though based on my experience with my previ...
