Re: Amazon Ordering Processing

One of the (many) great things about the UK is that if you order a Prime item, the majority arrive the next day (even Saturday or Sunday) as long as you’ve ordered before about 4pm, and a decent minority of items will arrive the same day if you order before about 10am. Depends on where you live, but...

Re: Something's different...

This one is actually addressed in Renee's post and on the header of the new site. The forums are here to stay. My understanding is that they are SEO gold. They may be migrated to a different platform, like the front pages comments were/are still in the process of, but I think they are safe. In addi...

Re: Something's different...

Well, isn’t this exciting. I feel a little bit like TR is part of my life. I’ve been a reader for 17 years and had a forum account for about 15. I took time to meet up with Scott and some other gerbils when I was in Kansas City visiting family over there. I’m from the UK. That’s the sort of place th...

Where is our editor?

So, The last article with Seth Colaner's byline was on the 13th of March, as far as I can tell. This seems strange. Is he OK? Is he still working for TR? Important shout out to everyone who is working hard to produce news posts and feature articles. I know you don't all get paid and I can only imagi...

The best news about this thread is that the German for "angle grinder" is "winkelschleifer" which is a fantastic word.

Well - we're a week in... The terror has somewhat decreased now. Eat, poo, sleep, eat, poo, sleep. With the occasional vomit in there. We've already been to the emergency department once as well (referred via the midwife and the GP - we tried not to be THOSE parents!) He maintained (slightly increas...

Turkey, as far as I understand, can be a pretty scary place if anyone thinks you are trying to subvert the government's (fairly drastic) control on communications and internet access.

Re: Becoming a father

I've seen many people around me go through the circus of medically assisted pregnancy who had absolutely no problems conceiving after baby #1 showed up.  The hormones in those pills, if you are on them for a long time, can take years to wear off before you're able to have a child again.  Even if yo...

I love these ideas. We'll make the video this weekend.

In terms of "parent voice" and saying no; we are both experienced teachers (my wife primary, me secondary) so we're thinking that gives us a bit of an advantage in the behaviour management area... wishful thinking I guess!

This thing? Pretty sure I had one of those when I was a little lad.

Due date is now 20 days away and the baby can't come soon enough for my wife, she is super uncomfortable and fed up with being a) fat b) achey and c) getting kicked in the bladder and stomach every 10 minutes!

TR, I think it's fair to say, contains a fairly impressive amount of collected and thoughtful wisdom about a range of issues other than PC hardware! I'm excited and terrified to say that a mini-excession is due to be born within the next six weeks - our first child. My wife is doing great but is alr...

Yet when I use my EXXON/Mobil Speedpass (RFID gas station payment widget) anywhere out of Vermont, the pump requires me to input my billing address ZIP code before it will turn on. I get this everywhere I go, even at the Wawa a mile from my house. This was really fun when I tried to use my British ...

The cheapest solution I found in the dim and distant past was a pair of tights (I think the word in the US is pantyhose) cut to size and stretched over the fan mounts, the friction between the mount and the case held it in.
