2T has a significant drop in performance on AMD64 and not worth it. If you call a 4% drop in Doom 3 from 229.8 -> 221 fps at 640x480 (are you really playing on a UniChrome IGP or something?) significant, then you certainly have a different definition from me. And for the 960358345th time: http://te...

If you want the entire memory space to operate in dual channel then you need to have identical configurations in each bank. For you, this would be 1GB/512MB in each of banks A and B. With 4 slots filled you will probably have to drop to a 2T rate. You will also have to run at the timings of the slo...

Core 2 CPUs are FSB limited and if running at stock the benefits of running the RAM at higher than FSB speeds is questionable! The performance difference between running 1:1 compared to 4:5 or 2:3 ratios is negligible at the stock 266FSB. All upto you anyway... I can only suggest. Uhmm...thats no, ...

Its basically a toss up between the Tuniq Tower 120 and Thermalright Ultra-120. I'm running the latter on an E6600 @3.6 GHz with an 86cfm panaflo fan. Load temperatures vary between 58-59 in TAT. In most games, the temperatures stay well below 50. Idle temps are around 40-42 depending upon ambients....

I have a pretty similar setup right now. I have two hard drive cages pushing air in. Fans 3&4 also are intakes, 1 is unusable cos the ultra-120 barely fits. 5&7 being exhausts are a no brainer. 2 is an exhaust as well. All the fans are 120mm 1200rpm scythe s-flex fans except the rear exhaust...

My mistake... looked like a fan on first sight. However I still wonder why they would want to put that stupid shroud. Even the 1000$+ lynx two doesn't need a shroud :P. Nor does any of the EMUs or M-Audios. All depends on what DAC and Opamps they use and how well the output stage is designed. Those ...

The upside down install can lead to malfunctioning heatpipes at times. IMHO both the CM Stacker 830 and Silverstone TJ-09 are better cases than that Lian Li. You you might wanna check out both those options too.

The reference 680i mobos don't like linked mode. Try unlinked and set the ram frequency to something conservative. Also is the ram actively cooled? Without active cooling, at those voltages, the ram will die in no time.

I run it 24/7 at 392x9 (4:5 ratio) @1.475V in bios (1.41 after droop and 1.39 load) on air using a thermalright ultra-120. Its an L628A batch cpu so does about average.

There's a significant difference in response times with the mouse at the default 125Hz vs say 500Hz. It can easily be felt in a twitch shooter like quake3/4. Take a look at the steel series pads. Pretty nice and most of them are good value for money. I had a Steel QCK earlier and recently switched t...

Alongwith everything, make sure you get a good CPU cooler. The stock cooler is pathetic. I'd frankly avoid the corsairs. What you should probably look for is RAM based on Micron D9GMH if you wish to overclock. If you could stretch your budget another 25 GBP, you could get these http://www.memory-configurator.com/products/description/2Gb_CellShock_DDR2_PC2_6400_800MHz-4_4_4_12-Dual_Chann...

Why are you comparing a PCI-E only card with an AGP only card :S? If your board has AGP, get the Ti4200, if its PCI-E get the 6200 TC or better still the normal 6200.

My first post here :). Well I don't have much idea about the first part, but regarding overclocking, the K8N/K8N-E deluxe will not lock the PCI/AGP unless you set the AGP frequency to 67 MHz. The overclocking ur talking about is the crappy AI overclocking. Set it to manual and you have full control ...
