Re: Anyone playing Sins of a Solar Empire?

I tried the demo a week or so ago and enjoyed it. I played 3-4 times, and I was definitely getting into it where I hated hitting the time limit. Good way to do the demo, though - keep all the features, and make people hungry for more. Definitely reminds me of the MOO series. I think the original MOO...

Re: Recommendations for new AGP Card

Thanks for the feedback, all. I agree that dropping $100 on a card that's at least one generation old is a little silly. I was hoping to prolong the upgrade a little bit, so I could afford to build fully new system. My whole system is circa Fall '03. My PSU doesn't have any PCIe power connectors, I'...

Recommendations for new AGP Card

I've got a solid system that's getting a little long in the tooth, and I'm thinking about upgrading my graphics card to give me a little more breathing room before I have to build from scratch. I've got a S393 single-core Opteron that's comfortably OC'd to 2.7 GHz. It's riding on an NF3 board with a...

I installed the ZM-NB47J on my Neo2 Platinum several months back, with great success. Trimming a few of the fins was easy, and it goes right in the stock holes. It's great to be rid of that annoying little fan, and the board still runs solid as a rock. Matter of fact, I had it running nice and happy...

Damaged 9800 Pro?

I've been having a little graphics trouble recently, and I'd appreciate some comments and suggestions. The problems started right after I moved my computer from one room to the other. I was careful, but immediately started having trouble. I thought it was software, so I reformatted and did a new ins...

Thanks for the suggestions, everybody. I went ahead and pulled the heat sink and replaced it with new thermal paste. Now I'm running Prime95, and it's been going for several hours now at stock speed with no problems. After the compound has set a little more, I'll crank it back up and see where I'm a...

The fan should be making good contact... haven't checked it, but I haven't touched it in months.

CPU voltage has always been stock (1.55V) or lower. The normal idle state is 6x245 (1470 MHz) @ 1.1V. PSU is an Antec TruePower 480W that I've never had a problem with (also 7 months old).

A64 3500+ Problem

I've had my 3500+ for about 7-8 months now (Newcastle) and have been very happy with it. Recently, I started having a few problems. I've been getting occasional BSODs, at random times - maybe one every 1-3 days. I thought it might be a driver problem at first, but finally got Windows to tell me it d...

Motherboard is an MSI Neo2 Platinum. I've got the newest MSI and nVidia drivers installed. As far as I know, all of my drivers and software are the most recent versions.

Yes, the problem occurs during playback, not recording - the VE does use software encoding, but my CPU doesn't use more than 30-40% max.

I'm running all of the latest drivers, Catalyst 5.4 and the newest available for the VE as well.

S-Video Out w/ 9800 Pro and Beyond TV

I've been having an interesting problem recently when trying to watch recorded programs on my TV via S-video output on my Sapphire 9800 Pro. I'm using Beyond TV to record programs on my computer, with a low-end capture card (ATI TV Wonder VE). I don't have any problem setting up the TV out and dragg...
