Re: Bedbugs FTL

Well I did some more research and it seems the only thing that really works is the dust you can spread, it breaks down their carapaces and causes them to die. Short of hardcore chems that may or may not work and other eco friendly stuf that most likely wont work. I think Ill bag my matress and boxs...

Re: Who's Down with IGP? (Apparently this Homie)

/me. just built a machine with the Ryzen 2200G. HTPC. still some teething issues. my ram wasn't totally happy at 3200 with the xmp profile, but it runs rock solid at 3000 (could be my mb?). also I was getting some weird bsod for AMD's driver, but apparently it's an old problem and a clean uninstall ...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

My Ponty experience comes from his Zappa stuff. I never have tried any of his other works. Damn, just looked up Over-Nite Sensation on Wiki and Tina Turner and the Ikettes did all of those really tough to sing backing vocals (and got no credits and just $25/day per Ike). Wiki says Ike was NOT happy...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Jean-Luc Ponty - The Acatama Experience (2007) A return to form of sorts for the prolific French jazz violinist (and former member of Frank Zappa's band). Arguably the best thing he'd done since the 1970s. Yes, the album name is supposed to be a reference to the Atacama desert, but apparently nobod...

I just googled those vacuums. $3500 for a vacuum... must suck to be a vacuum enthusiast.

Re: Here's what a real 10nm process looks like (literally)

Yikes. Over 100 million transistors per square millimeter. It's going to be interesting to see how Intel plans on cooling CPU hot-spots with such a dense chip. The heat transfer capability of current 14nm CPUs isn't great. They could probably improveme things significantly by grinding down the back...

I like that. Kirby lake. I love that little sentient car. Kirby lake can be intel's answer to amd's walter. lol nvm.

Re: How is "Kaby" pronounced?

it should be pronounced like baby. Intel pronounces it like someone with nasal problems. Let's just agree to call it very fast. just fix the tim, that's ridiculous. delidding is the most insane thing and I've soldered expensive electronics.

Re: You will do elaborate power efficiency tests of Ryzen won't you

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-7-1700x-review,4987-8.html So power consumption seems to be really good even accounting for performance. The results are suprising. Am I reading these results wrong? 1800x has Less power consumption than a 7700k? And why is gaming performance much better...

http://www.benchtest.com/rain.html A "software based CPU cooler" jokingly came up in conversation earlier today and then I remembered that I actually used to use one back in the Pentium II days! Its amazing to think that such a thing was possible or useful back then. Imagine if we actuall...

Re: computerbase.de Revisits Ryzen Gaming Performance

I haven't read anything from reasonable people that states ryzen sucks for gaming. Quite the contrary. It is good for gaming. It is just not as good as kaby lake or broadwell (yeah I'm skipping over Skylake). It really reminds me a whole lot of a haswell 5960x with faster multithreaded performance c...

Re: dating ads on TR?

yesterday I got into a long conversation about the hilarity of an ad on this site. It was an ad to hook up with single rich women over 40. I clicked on various other sites to check if adsense was acting up, but it was only on techreport. Weird.
