Re: Something's different...

Dear Renee, Please don't take the harsh comments to heart. We have been spoiled rotten for nearly two decades by some of the most talented and gifted technical journalists to ever grace the internet. If you ever have any spare time I would recommend you read some of Scott Wasson's reviews and artic...

Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

I'm OK with electric motors on a car. But I think batteries and charging stations are too environmentally costly. I support using fuel cells for primary power and regenerating braking with some battery for that purpose. The infrastructure build out necessary for charging all-battery electric cars w...

For sure. I thought about reading an AMD CPU review because of it, but the urge has passed. Better now.

Correct, Free Cash Flow is not really a good news item, because in this case the increase was not due to "ongoing operations" I thought that by definition it was from ongoing operations, but like you said previously, there are many ways to time shift CapEx so that Free Cash Flow appears b...

How does a $400 Million loss make the company "self funding"? That simply doesn't make any sense. I know, shocking right? Having their cash flow go up by over $600 million to hit $5 BILLION , a new record? That's quite a safety cushion! And then the assertion that positive cash flow can g...

Yeah no bueno. $5B cash is a bright spot. Should allow to see gigafactory3 start churning out cars. They're loading fixturing already. Ah, I edited my post. Positive FCF is another bright spot, even accounting for the "Cars on a boat" from Q1, its a solid number. EDIT: The other numbers a...

Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

For vehicles with high resale value, leases prices are (relatively) low. That's why you see cheap small cars with a $400/month lease, and a loaded F-150 (or a luxury car) with the same lease cost. The residuals are the same. Pretty sure that's not a contradiction. The price to purchase new is incre...

Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

The take rate on leasing a 3-series versus buying is around 70/30 . ;-) New car pricing in general is targeted at the leasing population, leaving those of us who must purchase for mileage reasons unable to afford most new cars once we've driven all of the value out of the current car. Kind of the o...

Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

There is, of course, another consideration that I have brought up before: gas taxes. These pay for road improvements, thus people driving EVs are free-riding (because the road requirements are the same, as is the road degradation for the equivalent class) The federal gas tax is 18.4 cents, and Cali...

I have the Samsung CHG70, and I'm happy with it. I can't notice a difference in input response from my old TN panel, but that could be cause I'm not 16 yrs old anymore. I can see a big improvement in picture quality versus my old TN panel.

Not much positive in the 2nd quarter report, other than the "in transport" vehicles delivered. Only 87,000 units produced, which is disturbing. On top of that, only ~15K of the high margin units. Yikes. They need to cancel the X fast, and pour resources into an S refresh. Like yesterday. M...

Both of those PSUs are modular. You didn't happen to use one of the Corsair strings on the EVGA, did you? That could instantly fry every drive attached to that string. oh no... Yes at first I did. Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

A couple of points: Tesla will survive, but not in its current form. Its crown jewels are its battery and drive control design and manufacture. It's Best in Class for those. It's the opposite at making the rest of the vehicle, where it's pretty inefficient. It needs a partner to produce vehicles for...
