DDR3 1333 differences??

I've noticed while looking at DDR3 1333 ram, I see pc3 10600, 10660, and 10666. What are the differences? Will any of the 3 work with an AMD motherboard that specifies DDR3 1333 (assuming it is unbuffered/unregistered)? Why is 1333 the only memory that has these 3 different speeds?

Basic fan cooling

I'm going to build a budget system (AMD quad-core, 512MB passive video card, single hard drive, etc.) using this coolermaster case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119106 The case comes with (2) 120mm fans: one in the rear, the other in the side. Would it be better to move t...

Power supply airflow direction

I'm looking at this power supply for a new system that I'm going to build: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 Does anyone know which direction the air flows through this power supply... exhaust or intake? Do all power supplies move air in the same direction, or does it v...

What type of coax to extend antenna for wireless?

I have a wireless network card in my desktop that has a little (rubber duck?) screw-in antenna on the back. Can I install about 10' of coax between the card and the antenna to place the antenna in a better location? What type of coax should I use (195 series, 200, 400)? Would I benefit by upgrading ...

How do I build a cheap server

I have put together a few mediocre desktops with great success. However, I have to admit that I don't know jack about a server. I don't know what components go into the make-up of one. I would like to put together a cheap server just for personal use. It would be for a personal website for pictures,...

What will I need to go wireless with DSL?

I want to set up for wireless in my daughter's apartment. She is going to have DSL (not installed yet). I don't have any experience with wireless setups or DSL. I just need to know what components I will need. She already has a wireless card (802.11b/g) in her Dell laptop. I'm assuming I'll need a w...

Extract sound file from Powerpoint

I have a Powerpoint presentation with an embedded wav file that I would like to extract to have just the stand alone wav file. Is this possible? I'm not the best with Powerpoint, and I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Any Powerpoint pros here?

Decisions on an LCD monitor

I want to get a 17" LCD monitor for my budget system that I just put together. It's not going to see a lot of major gaming, but I'd like to get the best one I could in the $200 range. I'm not sure which specs are the most acceptable on an LCD. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCompare.asp?Compare...

On-board audio problem...Biostar MB

I finally got all the little bugs worked out on my new system build except one. The on-board audio isn't working. It's a Biostar M7VIG 400 motherboard. I have stereo speakers hooked up that work with my other system. With this new system, I have to have the volume turned up all the way, but the soun...

Just for the record...I looked at everything in the BIOS setup and there is not an option for turning off the fan monitoring. Changing to halt on "no errors" didn't help it either. I checked the rest of my fans and none of them have a tach feedback...they are just 2-wire. To get rid of this annoyanc...

Boot problem with new build

I believe this is a hardware problem so I'll post it here. I just finished putting a cheap system together which includes a floppy, DVD burner, and hard drive. The connector from the LCD panel is the same as the header on the mb...it supplies the power to the fan and also gives the feedback of the tach signal. I believe the lack of a tach signal is what triggers the alarm for the mb or the display. I don't think the mb has a connector for supplying the cpu...

CPU fan header

I'm in the process of putting together a small, new system. The case that I purchased has an LCD screen/controller in the front panel. It gives a readout of CPU temp, fan speed, etc. If the CPU fan is not connected to it an alarm sounds. Needless to say that if the CPU fan is not plugged into the he...

Sorry about the post in the wrong forum. After going through my mb documentation, I've found that it only supports up to 4x agp. Are most 8x cards backwards compatable to 4x? I'm looking for a card that would be a noticeable upgrade for <$100...if such a thing exists. I'm not opposed to an ATI card,...

Athalon XP1900+ cpu upgrade

Hi all. I'm looking for some advice on an upgrade. I currently have an Athalon XP1900 w/512MB RAM on an Azza 366A-AV motherboard. According to the mb book, it supports 266mhz fsb socket A cpu's. Does this mean I can upgrade to Athalon's fastest 266mhz fsb cpu, such as the XP2800? I checked the mb an...
