Actually when I was in SE Asia a lot of places already factored the "service charge" right in, so no tipping needed. Not surprising to see it starting to happen here, but there are times when the servers screw up quite badly and you really don't want to tip, so the option is nice to have.

The beta of XP64 has been updated to support IA32e, or the Noncona cores. But I'd still get an A64 system.

With the 4.0 and especially with the 5.0 client, -forceasm is no longer needed. -Advmethods still allows you to get the monster WUs.

I would also say give one of the BYO distros a try. Debian or Gentoo. Not the easiest to learn, but definitely the most flexible.

I'd go for an iPod just because of the third party support. You don't NEED to use iTunes to use it, XPlay works quite well. And who else has all the cool toys :D
