Re: Official: Ryzen 3700X and 3900X review comments

Just received my 3800x from Newegg (a day late...but whatever). Good news is that 1.) I was able to drop it right in my Gigabyte X470 Gaming 5 mobo without issue (which is rare for me - I updated the bios earlier in the week), and 2.) every core seems to be able to hit the advertised boost speed of ...

Re: Official: Ryzen 3700X and 3900X review comments

It has been mentioned in other reviews that AMD halved the memory write performance on the 3700X in order to lower power draw and because they didn't feel it made a big difference for client workloads. We were a bit sad to see the 3700X's write performance, but AMD did mention they did it to help re...

Re: AMD WattMan VRAM Timings (new)

Yeah, instability is the #1 complaint in the Auto Undervolt comments. I think 100mV undervolt is a bit aggressive. From my experience, you can pull out about 50-60mV (below stock) at a given frequency and still be stable (for GloFo 14nm GPUs). That may be true for Polaris, but I can undervolt my re...

Re: X4 Foundations is out!

I have to admit that this one snuck up on me. Like many, I put an ungodly number of hours into X3, but barely touched Rebirth. The few streams I watched of X4 looked encouraging. I'll most likely pick it up after recovering from the holiday spending spree. It should at least give Egosoft a chance to...

Re: VEGA 64 Temps, Boost Clock, and Wattage

I just wanted to echo what others have mentioned about Wattman and undervolting. Wattman really does work well nowadays, and undervolting is pretty much the only way you are going to hit near boost clocks on your Vega without resorting to watercooling. You hit temp/voltage limitations on the chip ev...

Re: The Pixel 2 family is a hot mess

enixenigma first of all, welcome to TR, and secondofly I agree with NTMBK that you should cancel the order if it's not too late. This seems to be something that *will* affect you at some point, not a question of "if". I had reservations even when I preordered because I knew it was made by...

Re: The Pixel 2 family is a hot mess

Long time lurker (literally about a decade), finally decided to register. I've been reading the reports over the past few days and I'm quite torn. I keep looking at my Pixel 2 XL order that is supposed to ship today and wondering if I should just cancel it. I'm a big fan of my gen 1 Pixel, looks asi...
