If you can find it for cheap the AV-710 is great card (I got mine on sale for 15$) and it produce better sound than an the Audigy 2 I had. Also I have never experienced any weird driver problems with it, which were the reason I wanted to get rid of the Audigy. However both of them produced noticeabl...

5/1mbps Cable (70GB a month cap before throttling)
5mbps/640kbps DSL (No cap, but the modem craps itself at around 300kbps upload)

It might seem silly to have 2 internet connections, but they cost me 24 and 20$ and together they make 1 really good internet connection.

The hard drive from my first computer (a 10GB quantum bigfoot 5400rpm) is still going. It had a couple years rest in the middle before it went to a friend who still has it in their computer. It would be about 9 years old and have been running for about 6 of those years. Also of note every Maxtor dri...

I don't have any experience with the 6750 in particular but I have been able to hit 3Ghz with all of core 2s I have overclocked. Just make sure you can find a motherboard that will run a fairly high FSB. Skimming through the Tech Report and Anandtech reviews should show you want boards would allow y...

Yeah, both disks were xp sp2 disks and I updated the first install completely. I am going to chalk it up to being a bad disk/bad install, but I just chucked the disk as I am not willing to find out for sure.

It was a full re-install, and yes it was the newest bios. Tried updating everything, but then I gave up and tried another install from a different disk (burnt MSDNAA disks) and it is working now.

Windows only recognizing one core

I recently just built a core 2 system, but for some reason windows is only recognizing the one core (only one shows up in task manager). Anyone have any ideas, I am sure this is must be a software issue as the bios seems to see both cores. here are my system specs E6400 (not overclocked at the momen...

New pair of headphones

I am working somewhere new and I am getting tired of dragging my headphones to work and back home so I am looking to get a new pair of headphones. Currently I have a pair of these (Sennheiser HD590s) http://www.ecost.com/ecost/ecsplash/shop/detail~dpno~463772.asp I really like the sound quality on t...

I have talked with highpoint tech support and they haven't really suggested anything. I think for now I will just put up with the poor write performance, try to find somewhere to put all the data and then move back linux at some point. If someone has a solution I would love to hear it still as it wo...

Yes it is Raid 5. I have fully updated the drivers and the bios on the card, neither seemed to help. The performance under linux was something like 100/40, not stellar, but a far cry better than I have with windows right now. The 1820A has on-board XOR, but some of the raid logic is done by the CPU ...

Slow write speed on Highpoint 1820A

A while ago I switched my media/web server from linux to windows and now I am getting horrible write performance with my highpoint 1820A controller. I get about 280-300MBp/s sustained read and 150MBp/s random read, but only 40MBp/s sustained write and 10MBp/s random write. If anyone has any ideas on...

2.4Ghz on a thoroughbred B 1700+, using home brew watercooling, an NF7-S and giving the CPU 2.2V

In terms of percentages though the highest was Venice A64 3000+ at just over 2.8Ghz, DFI NF4, watercooling and 1.8V.

My roommate is overclocking with a stock AMD cooler. He is at 2.6Ghz with the a winchester core 3000+, it will run almost 2.7 with an XP-90 and more voltage. I am not sure what voltage or temp but I know it is less than 1.75v (what he was running with XP-90) and he is running low 50s under load.
