Where to now?

I used to follow TR way back in early 2000s, as I was getting to know computers more in detail, and I even used the build guide to build my own "custom" PC (my family had computers for a while, but it was the first one I could say "I built this"). An Athlon 64 X2 processor, an Nv...

Re: Intel NUC 9 Ghost Canyon

I would invest in a mini ITX system with an SSF case, like a Dan-Case A4 or a Loque Ghost, rather than buying this NUC - sure the price may be almost the same, but you're not bound to just one supplier of a compute unit (Intel)

HHKB fans here? :D

Long time no see!! I managed to get the other day a brand new HHKB (the Pro Hybrid Type-S model) and I got to admit that I love the sound of this keeb! it definitively sounds better and feels definitively better compared to the other Cherry-MX compatible keyboards I have, and quite an improvement ov...

Re: CPU being eaten by Overwatch

You can forcefully set which GPU you want to use on which app through Windows Settings. You should also be able to see which adapter is being used by Overwatch in the video settings for the game. If it’s your iGPU then yes, you should be able to resolve that. However if your actual GPU is used there...

Re: How do you store/organize your stash of extra cables?

I have them tied in Velcro Tape, and then use dividers within drawers to categorize their type (e.g. USB mini, USB-C, etc.) For those cables that I don't move/use that often I have them all stored in a single storage box from Ikea (organized by types in boxes within)

I've heard this straight from Adam: YouTube is where PC hardware vendors spend their ad budgets. AdSense is one thing, but that's not where the real money is. You need contracts with the big vendors and they only want to spend money on YouTube. :-? It totally makes sense! I find myself more often t...

Yes I have! an old macbook from 2013 and a new macbook from 2017. The 2013 one was super easy to pull off... and the 2017 one ended up with a daughterboard snapped out of place (I mistakenly screwed the wrong screws in the wrong standoffs) and had to replace the entire display assembly :( oh they jo...

@JohnC, I think the problem lies on the target demographic. I am all up to address better thermal paste benefits in laptops (cfr. Re: Can I? Win95/98 on a dual P3 SuperMicro P6DGE

WinME had a lot of issues that stemmed from bad drivers developed for Win98, as ME removed certain types of drivers, and enforced the use of WDM (afaik - I never had any problems with ME at all, never a single blue screen). However, Win98SE is probably the best choice as all the drivers were aimed a...
