Re: TRFrankenbot for COVID-19

I'm back, baby! Normally I only fold when it's cold here in San Jose, which is rare, but now I'm running 24/7. I don't have much, only one desktop, but with the current lack of work units it'll do. One Ryzen 5 3600 and a Radeon 5700. If work units flow freely, I'll boot up two older machines with ol...

PerfectCr, "native" 1080p is denoted by "1080p support," or simply "1080p." "1080p" by itself does not denote "capable of being upscaled." Krogoth - Amen about the crappy script! The primary reason I don't really go headfirst into games anymore. I us...

PerfectCr - FALSE ADVERTISING. That's the harm. As just brew it! said, it's no different than buying a DVD advertised as having something it doesn't. Imagine buying a Blu-Ray/HD-DVD that said right on it "1080p," but wait! That just means your HD-DVD player can upscale it to your TV for th...

Doesn't really matter what MS has or hasn't been doing, PerfectCr. Point is, the complaint is valid and it is, in fact, false advertising.

mattsteg , I've stared down big dogs with mean attitudes. Had confrontations with rattle snakes. I've relatively kept my calm in situations with animals where my life could have been on the line. Most bugs don't bother me. Beetles, flying insects, crustacean and a lot of other arthropods. Jesus. H....

What performance? Are the games you play unplayable with your current card? No? Then you're still just trying to get the best just to have it.

There is a definite difference between "all eye candy turned on," and "I'm just turning it all on because I can." One matters, and you can notice, the other is all about being "the best." Besides, what does benchmarking have to do with anything? Things like 3dmark and o...

You wouldn't be the same kind of person who thinks his car is out of date and needs to be replaced because they released a new model year? No? Then why do it with your computer? I like 2-3 year upgrade cycles. Even then, it depends on what you're doing. 2-3 year upgrade for those who like to game. J...

I have a question for any of you that drink Anchor Steam beer.

What temperature do you drink it at? I can't stand the stuff cold, far, far, far too bitter. But at room temp, the bitterness fades and is replaced with a (really really really) creamy, dark flavor.

Wooah boy, I am currently halfway through a bottle of New Belgium Brewery's 1554 black ale. It's no Stout replacement, but it's one nice chewy, dark drink. I think I'm going to light up a pipe of Black XX pipe tobacco to go with this, which fits, because the Black XX tastes like fricken smoked meat....

FireGryphon - And what's wrong with that? AGP went the way of the Dodo because it impeded the implementation of PCIe. Yes PCI is still around as a legacy device, but it would and does cost more to put PCIe 1(1/2/4)x, PCI, and AGP on a board instead of just the PCIe and PCI. And to jump ahead of pos...

The MX-3 and the Boxster, from my experience are, far too comfy. They aren't build from the ground up for handling, they were built from the ground up to be a sporty car. sluggo - That may be true, to an extent. But in any case, a very well cooled heatsink still shouldn't be too hot to touch. That just means heat is not being removed fast enough, and is gathering up. A larger heatsink spreads that same amount of heat out further, which in a way, sucks the heat away ...
