Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

Two thoughts: #1. Only current drivers of an EV should be allowed to make a buy or don't buy comment about an EV. Those without experience are often full of FUD. I have a 2013 Leaf SL that we bought in 2015. So a couple years old with 13,xxx miles on it. It's the SL so it has most of the option feat...

Re: TV show dvd bitrates falling badly...

They probably figure that if you are willing to watch the 720x480 DVD resolution rather than choosing the 1920x1080 option then quality isn't a priority to you either. And if they can save some money on production costs and maximize profit then all the better.

Re: 2015 MBP battery issue

The real unfortunate part of the Mac design decisions is that they didn't simply make this a part that could be swapped easily by the end user. But that kind of goes against their profit plan....yet people keep buying. I don't care for Apple products in general but am in awe of the marketing ability...

I think what you likely are looking for is a "USB Document Camera" based on your need to scan papers. These guys have been building them for many years, but don't have quite the resolution you are looking for I don't think. http://ken-a-vision.com/document-camera I also saw this model ment...

Re: Anyone buy Home Audio & Video Protection Plans for their stereo?

In general, extended warranties are never a good deal for the consumer. But they are a profitable add-on for retailers. Here's what you do: DON'T BUY THEM EVER. Now maybe once and a while you will have a piece of gear fail. But, if you have skipped purchasing several of these warranties then you wil...

Re: The ultimate sump pump battery backup?

We are using an integrated 'Basement Watchdog' system that has a DC pump as well as the AC pump. This gives you a second pump for redundancy as well as being a DC motor so you avoid the power losses converting DC to AC. I thought the whole thing ....especially their custom battery which I need to re...

Yes...some envy here as well. Great price for the cabinet alone as a starting point to a project. Two comments: You might check with a shop that does vinyl wraps for cars and trucks. Duplicating the cabinet art should be fairly simple...just 4 colors it looks like. And you probably should be thinkin...

Re: The promise and failure of home automation...

Yep...the consumer 'home automation' through things like Alexa is pretty limited in my little experience. You get to do it their way...not really your way for the most part. And what I've learned is that you don't just get to tell Amazon/Alexa about your devices.... Each device manufacturer makes yo...

Does your case have a reset switch, too? Do you really need it? Just move that to the power jumper and you can get back in business. If it were me, I'd just drill a hole and insert a simple pushbutton switch and move on. Then again, I don't really care about the look of my case...it's a box for comp...

Number one....who is at fault. Sounds like the van driver. So his insurance should pay. The police officer at the crash scene should have given your friend that guy's insurance info. As a former owner of many modems starting at a 300 baud unit on my C-64, I will offer my advice here. The external modem is the way to go. Yes you will need a serial port, but that should be simple to find. Then the modem just works....no BS drivers needed. It will work today and later on Windows 27...
