Re: How about an Rx 480... for $640

Looks like it will be an interesting time to shop for a secondhand RX480/580 after there are ASICs availabile for Etherum, et al, I'm sure we'll see lots of very broken-in examples selling for peanuts.

Why not both? There are types of games I prefer to play on PC and kinds I prefer to play on console, I own a PC and several consoles and I game on each and I enjoy their respective exclusives as well. Each platform has its pros and cons, and the most egregious sins come from trying to force porting ...

Wow big aside but I didn't realize ToastyX was still around, I remember that name from the Impulse Tracker scene and I think it was the early 00s if not the late 90s last time I heard it.

Re: Nissan/Infiniti VC-T engine - variable compression

That is adding an uncomfortable looking amount of mass to the rotating assembly. This thing won't just be aiming to replace diesel cycle engines, it will run like one, early plateau of the torque curve and a low redline. Not to mention, the way that Nissan (Infiniti) is trying to position this, it's...

I saw that blurb too, that and the early reviews of the 4th gen Moto G were all I needed to know about what I already suspected about the Lenovo acquisition being the death kiss. I guess I'll hold onto my 3rd gen Moto G as long as it makes sense and then make a Nexus (oh somebody please make a 4.3&...

DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

About to move and going to stop leasing from Comcast, have not shopped for a separate modem in about 8 years due to various circumstances and wondering what the landscape looks like these days, any recommendations or recommended reading?

I think taking cell phone photos pretty much equates you with non-expert in the first place. Snark aside, I'd say anyone who's truly an expert can take a good photograph with whatever's at hand. The rest of us need the electronic nannies provided by the iPhone and other modern smartphones and...

Re: XBox 360 in Shanghai

Yes, I have the original 100V power supply but I'm not planning to even bother taking it with me. I'd like to buy the 220V AC⇒DC brick there if possible, I'm sure the PC-style power cord for the brick won't be a problem to find. Does anyone know where the big electronics shopping district in Shangha...

XBox 360 in Shanghai

I had absolutely no idea where to ask this so my apologies if this isn't the right spot. I'm moving to Shanghai for work and I want to take my XBox 360 with me. I know the console wasn't officially released there, but does anyone know if are there any shops where I can buy a 220V power supply to use...

1) Raiden DX
2) Castlevania SotN
3) Langrisser I & II
4) Gran Turismo 2
5) Armored Core Master of Arena

Kind of tricky to keep it to 5 entries, it really turned into a great system and some amazing games were coming out from '97 or so right up until the PS2 release.

Tetris The Grandmaster Ace I love Tetris but the TGM style of gameplay just does not work with TTC game rules, I keep feeling like I'm getting screwed out of victory on some of the Tetris Road segments or Promotional Exams that would have been no problem in TGM2/TGM3. Also the online is completely d...

Re: What part or peripheral on mobo requires -5V?

The last time I saw -5V wired on a power supply it was a JAMMA standard one in a late-80's arcade cabinet. The sound on the board wouldn't work when replaced with an ATX power supply that didn't have -5V. Like mnecaise says, I really doubt you can find any contemporary PC equipment that needs to dra...

If you're talking about the general MIDI playback that's used by default in Windows, Prion's link is most practical, though the nonsense about the "MIDI stack" is just that - nonsense. Windows 7 uses the same sample library that every version of Windows has used since Win98. My bad, I rea...

Does running the game at a lower resolution and relying on the scaler add much output latency on those monitors?

Great car but smaller inside than I expected from a midsize. Not for those who like a seating position that needs a lot of front legroom for comfort.
