Re: I'm looking for a mass-rename tool for files

I've used this for years, I don't know how it compares to anything else as I've never not been able to do what I wanted with it

I'm done... even when I bring politics in with the idea that it was fixed, you still come back with 'we cannot do that because of politics' you have no ability to think past your own beliefs, I'm done practically every single time we talk I have to tell you AGAIN that I'm talking about theory, pract...

Re: Colorado River Water

alright, first off, yes, I know what ROI is, and I know that the longer the lead in time, the more pessimistic ROI projections are the ones you should look at (hope for the best, prepare for the worst).. if, in the end, all this does is costs 10 billion, and saves 11 billion, I wouldn't say do it, b...

Re: Colorado River Water

There is no current (and nor has their been recently) any excess capacity in Lake Meade. Though your idea has some technical merit the practicalities of it being implemented are very small. Well, as I've pointed out several times (not to you), I'm actually only trying to argue the technical side of...

Re: Colorado River Water

And your continual mistake is to believe that Hoover Dam can run at nameplate power 24/7/365. thanks for the assumption, but, I'm not of the mind that ANY power plant can safely run at 100% at all points in time (well, I guess photostatic solor panels on spacecraft do techincally run 100% of the ti...

Re: Colorado River Water

So Glorious without quoting anyone please simply state what the issue is with using Lake Mead as one side of a pumped storage hydro power system? The water is already in it. That is where your mistake is.. at least in this instance, the mistake I've tried to tell you 3 or 4 times now.. the water in...

Re: Colorado River Water

Is it a technical issue, physics issue, or political? I'm simply trying to understand your point of view but it is lost in all the back and forth. The Hoover Dam's primary purpose (when constructed, and still to this day) is providing water to downstream members of the Compact in accordance with th...

Re: Colorado River Water

yes, if for the peak times, the hoover dam is running at 100%, or yes, if the hoover dam is already pouring water through that is not being used to create energy, then the whole thing is pointless (at least for now, however, the idea that the counties power usage is going to go down over time is abs...

Re: Colorado River Water

that is EXACTLY what the addition of a pumped hydro station will be doing, it will be refilling the lake that the hoover dam is holding back yes, english is my first language, I forgot to proofread/delete that sentence when I figured out a better way to state my hypothetical, so, yeah, that sentence...

Re: Colorado River Water

Ok, first off, when I was referring the hoover damn having extra capacity, I was referring to water capacity, not its load percentage, that was a simple and understandable misreading so I'll get out of the way first (I.E. the water is well below the height of the dam where the structure can no longe...

Re: Colorado River Water

Glorious, because date's don't matter, the time of day does, that's why I said NOON on day one, to NOON on day two, at NOON the water being used in this closed loop system WILL be in it's lower potential state (thank you for reminding me of lower/higher potential felt like a fool having to describe ...

Re: Colorado River Water

What you are missing is that the water that is flowing as a pumped storage system *does not* start in the higher potential, you're starting at the wrong part of the loop, look at the system as if it goes from noon on day 1 to noon on day 2 at noon, while the dam is not operating, when you have an en...

Re: Colorado River Water

Sorry, it's in the name.. PUMPED storage.. where you PUMP water against gravity, to store it as potential energy during times when the grid has a surplus of energy even with the dams turbines not running (around noon-3pm), the excess energy runs the pumps to move the water to a higher position (I fo...

May I drop a penny in this pond? I *really* wish I could blame facebook, there's a reason why the space race lost so much glamour after Apollo 13 splashed down in the Pacific... It's been mo...

I don't know if you're ok with used tech, but, as you're looking at a 1070ti for 350, I feel obliged to mention that I just got a hotclocked trifan 1080 (gigabyte) for 300 off on ebay.. had to keep an eye out for the better deals/cards.. Re: Japan - worlds smallest orbital rocket

Neat. Shame it didn't make it to orbit this time, but a small payload might be a perfect fit for regular ISS supply missions. You're going to need a significant fraction of that 140kg just for rendezvous thrusters and the like. Would you really? OR... Could you launch it in a specific time/trajecto...

Looks like japan was right when they were trying to stop the ps2 (or was it the ps3) from coming in at the idea it could be used to control an ICBM.
