Re: Stumbled on a new project this weekend.

Got to give Ms Pac some love this weekend. No pictures yet though. Re-sanded everything with 120 grit for a much nicer surface. Went around all the corners and hard to reach places with an oscillating multitool with a sanding attachment. Everything that will be repainted is now sanded. Started with ...

Re: Format ext4 from Windows

I booted into live versions of Slax and Lububtu and neither of them see the card Even fdisk -l does not show it? I looked in the file explorer programs. I haven’t used the command line in so long... but I’ll check. They are likely just showing you the vfat formatted partition used for UEFI boot. Yo...

Re: My thoughts on the Prusa I3 MK3 3d printer kit

So, this isn't so much about the Prusa I3MK3 as much as it is about 3d printing in general. I spent most of my spare time Friday fighting with the black Nylon. I was acting like it was possessed. On a multi-part print, printing in parallel, I'd get the first part come out perfect.... http://kovarind...

Re: Format ext4 from Windows

Windows may not be able to read the filesystem, but it should be able to read the partition table. It should show an approximately 8GB partition of "unkown filesystem", or something like that. I suppose it could be having problems with a GPT style partition table. Ignore the fact that this...

Re: Anyone repair anything today?

I guess if I'm messing with full voltage electricity at main feeder line (150A @ 240V would hut. Alot), I'm probably going to want to not DIY. Also I would need the power company to come out and pull the meter to be able to replace the main breaker with a different setup. EDIT: I like something lik...

I’ll need to look at something like that. The main 150A breaker is outside in its own panel next to the meter. Trying to find something that will mechanically prevent both would have to be either something in that panel or another switch between that panel and the main. Don't know what you're perso...

Re: My thoughts on the Prusa I3 MK3 3d printer kit

This black nylon has been nothing but a frustration. The red had the normal, expected problems associated with nylon. The black? Well, its just being strange. Trying to run sequential prints of spacers, effectively a 35mm long tube with 14mm OD and 8mm ID, works great for the first part. Sometime af...

I woke up to this mess this morning. http://www.kovarindustries.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10001/normal_IMG_20190516_060959224.jpg This is what happens when you are printing with a sticky filament that has bed adhesion problems. Re: Anyone repair anything today?

Yesterday, replaced the battery in my daughter's Corolla. Last night, replaced the alternator. Luckily, it's a transverse mount, four cylinder. If the pivot bolt hadn't given me fits going back in, it would have been an hour job. As it was, it was an hour and thirty. Now, my wife's Durango is...

Something of a cross post from my 3d printing thread , but I'm making good progress on creating replacement plastic parts for the Pac Man style joystick. Re: My thoughts on the Prusa I3 MK3 3d printer kit

Nylon filament arrived Friday afternoon. Have been running test prints, off and on, all weekend. I was surprised at how soft and flexible the filament is. It's obviously nothing near as flexible as TPU, but it's more like TPU than PLA or PETG in flexibility. I've had three "jams" this week...

Re: Stumbled on a new project this weekend.

Little bit of Zaxxon follow up. I had an hour free this evening so I cleared Ms Pac Man off the work bench and lugged Zaxxon up. Luckily they have similar monitors and I could plug Zaxxon into my refurbed Ms Pac monitor. The Zaxxon monitor is so nasty, I won't bring it inside before its clean. Fired...

Re: My thoughts on the Prusa I3 MK3 3d printer kit

So, I'm going to try out a new, more exotic filament. I've got both red and black nylon on order and arriving, hopefully, this weekend. I'm very interested to hear how that goes. I've only ever printed in PLA and TPU, although I've just received a spool of Hatchbox PETG because I'm curious as to ho...

As with your other thread, I'm still loving the updates in this one. So cool how both projects have collided. Well, to be fair, I'm actually starting to use the printer for my stated reason for buying it. Not Ms Pac Man specifically, but so I could create custom parts for various projects I might b...

Re: My thoughts on the Prusa I3 MK3 3d printer kit

To of my "hobby" activities continue to collide. The joystick used in Pac Man, Ms Pac Man and other games has a plastic stop spacer that goes around the joystick shaft and limits the through of the joystick, as well as limiting the joystick to four directions. Those spacers are unobtanium ...

This weekend I sanded... and sanded... and sanded... Ok, maybe that's a bit of exaggeration, but it sure feels like it this morning. Re: Stumbled on a new project this weekend.

Cool. So how do you fix this? Buy a used chip that isn’t corrupt? Fix a solder joint? I can see how emulation is hard now, given that all of these parts work together in specific ways with their own timing and delays, and that all needs to be emulated. Depends on the cause. Sometimes, it's just an ...

Re: Stumbled on a new project this weekend.

If it’s a bad motherboard component, how would it work at all? In the PC realm, marginal components mean lack of stability. How could a mobo component make a software glitch? Older arcade games are much simpler beasts in many respects. Think of the bricks as textures. These particular textures are ...
