Re: Chrome x64 and Windows 10 Issue

I use Chrome on a secondary screen for Youtube... like 20 tabs, that it's great for. Normal surfing, actually IE11. That said, the most horrible thing ever devised was flash and assuming all clients have hardware acceleration. I found a bug in the HW accell with both browsers that basically kills a ...

Re: Just who is using AmigaOS 4.x.x?

There always were certain applications that the Amiga was great for, for many years after it's prime time. How many things could and have the ability to have different resolutions on different parts of your monitor... active at the same time. That is one reason it was used for video and some broadca...

Re: Has anyone eaten Lardo before?

Just have some on good Italian place. Thin slices of greatly flavored fat is not that different in texture from eating the fatty pieces of a good prosciutto crudo or the Spanish iberia that I often prefer from standard prosciutto. Different flavors thought. Didn't think it was super special, but it ...

Re: Frame capping with Precision X over vsync

The whole point of Vsync and G-Sync is so that the monitor and GPU are synced. If theyre not, youre defeating the whole purpose of limiting framerate. Even 60 fps on a 60Hz monitor without Vsync will have tearing since the monitor and GPU will be refreshing at different times. You do realize that i...

Re: How do I recover corrupt file word file frow a flash dri

Depends on what is wrong with it, but windows can be notoriously difficult with say a corrupted partition table / MBR or similar. Some of those softwares can usually rewrite or detect and fix only the partition table / MBR keeping the rest of the partition intact. So what you need is a decent partit...

SmallNetBuilder is using IxChariot to test... as do we at my current client. It's great, but you do need to have some experience with both IxChariot as well as a decent understanding on packet and protocol level of both TCP/UDP as well as RTP, etc to get the most out of it, not to mention the $6000-...

Depending on if you need patches or not, like where I am working, there pretty much wasn't a choice. That said, you can get patches if you really need to, it will just cost you a several million $ for the privilege. http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2395635/microsoft-to-charge-usd600-per-serv...

Keep windows filesharing within the same generation or at least one off. XP might be OK, but I still wouldn't chance it. I run windows 7 on my workstation and 2012r2 on my fileserver. Works dandy and have no problem at all with maxing out the gigabit network with 110+ MB/s transfers. (99% utilitizat...

Re: AMD Catalyst 15.7 Driver is now available!

I fiddled around a bit more, and it seems BF might be the odd case out since it uses it's own syncing on top of using Mantle and not being DX. It seems DX games work just fine, as long as you restart them properly after changing v-sync. At least both Borderlands and Warframe requires a full game res...

The big job is not setting up the AD itself, that's the easy part as long as you aren't going to need setup a whole forest and trusts or cross forest trust, saml, federation and stuff, that's where stuff can really get hairy and you need to have both networking, application and AD knowledge going. I think saying that anyone would choose such and such settings is something to be taken very lightly, because I don't know anyone that uses full screen window mode if they can avoid it basically. With seamless alt-tabbing, what do you see as a point for full-screen windowed mode compared to just ful...

If this is going to continue to be a sticky, I think we should continue to add to it. Especially now when we are starting to have good comparisons out between G-Sync and Freesync. Also, really good write up from Amazing X. While the G-Sync seems to be just a tad technically better, in most respects,...

It depends. Hardware yes, software, you need to look on the display support. But IIRC there is also open source tools that support some colorimeters so you can measure whatever you wan't and not create a profile. Just set it to the best of your ability. You can measure and if you have RGB Controls i...

Oh well. Then I guess all 3 of the games I tried are DX 9 games. (Trine 2, Borderlands 2, Warframe) ...

Hopefully it resolves the issues I have with freesync. Got a new monitor two days ago, the Asus MK279Q that are Adaptive Sync compatible and so far, while the gaming is gorgeous, I am not impressed with the handshaking. The monitor turns off freesync at any refresh above >90, but the 290x I have can...

In the interest of this discussion I tried a few things today. Got myself an Asus 144Hz IPS monitor with freesync... and OH MY. Damage - Pretty much since you started crunching the 99th value of frame numbers, that has been the goto graph I look at for most cards, that and the frame time distribution graphs. And that is also what I used when I compared my Mantle exports on BF4 compared to DX since Fraps is pretty useless wit...

Re: Framerate (or latency): Average vs Consistency?

As long as framerate is above refresh rate, consistency all the way. And yes, I hate tearing and thus also pay a price for using vsync. So soon as decent freesync monitors are out in force, I'll get one which might help that quite a ways considering a play a whole lot of FPS, not to mention having m...

Re: who help me choose the right switch?

The only way a switch would pull that much power is if you have some high-power usage devices on every port, all running at maximum power usage. This isn't likely even in an enterprise setting. The biggest power usage devices are enterprise APs and security cameras...mainly outdoor security cameras...

Most managed switches for home usage is PnP and basically an unmanaged switch until you decide to do something with it. And not very expensive. So if you think you want segregation at some point, get one. But they are cheap enough as it's no big deal if you want to switch down the line. The importan...

If you have an UNencrypted iphone backup stored on the PC, you can read all the SMS/Imessages from the phone via a sqlite utility. I used sqlitebrowser when I did that.
