Re: Calling all dinosaurs - IBM needs you!

I've written exactly one COBOL program in my life, and that was in the 1980s. For Y2K a lot of COBOL programmers came out of retirement to patch legacy systems; this time around that strategy won't work because most of them are dead. Many people don't realize how much our tech infrastructure still r...

Probably shows as dual-channel, since both memory controllers would be active (just not being utilized optimally).

1. What will this system be used for? 2. What is your budget? Answer those two questions, and we can provide some meaningful guidance. Also, "Core i7" is a product line that has existed for over a decade, with dozens (hundreds?) of different CPUs released under that branding; if you alread...

Re: Help me with upgrading question please!

The most likely scenario is that 24GB will work, but system performance will be slightly slower when it is accessing the 8GB DIMM that isn't paired with another module. It is also possible that you'll need to loosen your timings a little (or the mobo may do this automatically) once you have multiple...

NUC CPU isn't upgradeable, and you have a very limited selection of high-performance GPUs compatible with the form factor.

https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/intel-nuc-9-extreme-kit-ghost-canyon Pretty sweet. Other than the $1,500 price tag... For expats like me, it's great. I don't want to lug around a heavy desktop every time I have to move. Plus, it would look cute and take up little space and be relatively inconspicuous...

I know of multiple people (friends/family of people I know personally) who had good reasons to be tested, and were denied. So it seems to vary quite a bit by region.

Don't know about yours, but a lot of hospitals have canceled all elective procedures. This has resulted in a sharp drop in revenues, and a need to furlough staff due to lack of funds to pay them.

If it's really closer to 5.7 than 2.0, that could be GOOD news. Would likely mean that most of us have already been exposed, and therefore have some degree of immunity.

Well, at least:

1. It is working now.
-and-
2. Even if they honored the warranty, the best Asus would've probably done would be to ship you a replacement, with the same buggy USB chipset on it.
