Re: Haswell uncore?

I used the "keep it within 300mhz" rule. Haswell shows some performance differences with uncore, while skylake seems to be less dependent: http://www.overclock.net/t/1570313/skylake-overclocking-guide-with-statistics -Check out the "Cache Frequency Doesn't Matter! (Click to show)"...

Re: Skylake i5 6600k overclock

if you are getting those temps with a hyper 212 then a $89 Cooler Master nepton 140xl will work a lot better, with mine the load temps of 60-65c drop to my idle temps of 28c almost instantly at 24c ambient where air coolers tend to take a good bit longer more time to drop to idle temps. Do you have multiple monitors? If no, ignore this post. Some games I play randomly will allow the cursor to go to the other moni...

Re: Skylake Delidded and no, it wasn't me

Crap, the EK naked mount kit does NOT work with skylake, due to the more thin PCB it does not press down enough on the socket. When I bought everything last month the site stated it supported 6 series, now says: CAUTION: No official support for de-lidded 6th (Skylake) generation Intel® Core i3/i5/i7...

Re: i7-4790k - make sense to watercool/overclock?

Without de-lidding the CPU I had a hard time keeping it cool, even with a higher end loop, the cooler could just not draw out enough heat from the lid/chip interface. If you are going for 1.35v+ you will need to delid to keep temps in check. You can look over my experience here: http://techreport.co...

Re: Skylake Delidded and no, it wasn't me

Edit: After looking at your photos, a couple of things: 1. They added even more caps under the IHS compared to the original Haswell that I delidded! 2. The photos from my original post show that Skylake apparently has NO capacitors or other electrically conductive components under the IHS. It's jus...

Yes. Colored liquid looks cool. But unless you want to risk taking apart your blocks ever 6 months or so to clean out colored gunk build up, avoid dies. When I first put together my custom loop, I didn't believe that dies causes gunk build up either. Tried some Fesser die (UV blue) and noticed a sm...

The M=modular. It's a $100 psu, 20% off plus another $20MIR. I have a TX950 on standby, just in case 750w isn't enough for a 400watt system.

GTX 970 overclock/voltage issue

Curious if anyone else on here has seen this. My housemate had a PNY GTX980, and thought it was defective because of this (his card was not fully stable at +anything core gaming), sent it back and got 2x PNY GTX970s, we noticed something similar but chalked it up to SLI voltage issue and moved on. Devil's Canyon 4790k Overclock Results

My final results: 4.9ghz @ 1.35v with the cache/uncore at 4.7ghz @ 1.35v, XMP enabled DDR2133. I was able to get to 5.0ghz "stable" but it took 1.45v and the temps were in the low 90s, too high for me to do a full muti-hour run of OCCT, the overtemp triggered after 2 minutes, but I did gam...

You won't find ESX or Hyper-V running on Power hardware. IBM has their PowerVM suite of virtualization technologies which tightly integrate with the Power processors. You can run several of IBM's own OSes (AIX, i aka OS/400, etc) and several flavors of Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, SLES). Does this mean the...

On the stock "auto" setting this DOES happen, adaptive not required. To block this behavior you have to manually set the voltage in bios, which keeps that full voltage all the time. Try it yourself.
