Re: Something's different...

Odd topic, I'm not sure any one in benefits management would be interested in that articular and it doesn't help general employees because it's not their call... And anyone who was actually in a position to make decisions would roll their eyes and laugh at that article. But some algorithm said that...

Re: Roasted peanut oil. Anyone cook with/or use it?

Just a edible Finishing Oil is used to add flavor to a dish, doesn't mean you can't use it to fry foods with, or it is not suitable for doing so. Many of the articles and online vendors do mention baking with Roasted Peanut Oil. Which is why I'm asking if I can fry foods with it. The primary purpos...

Re: Salting the Earth, was this actually done?

Also salt was used as a fertilizer in SMALL AMOUNTS. If you use too much you kill the plants. If the land was barren from over use but still in decent shape you could help the land. (My mom studies the bible and ancient history a lot.) I did read something like that, but I have a hard time acceptin...

Re: Salting the Earth, was this actually done?

Due to another poster mentioning this in a different Thread, I wanted to have a talk about this. I heard this phrase back when I was kid. I wasn't sure if anyone done this for real due to Salt being really expensive during most of Human History. And of course it was quite often Feast and Famine as ...

A company I used to work for was using an IBM XT to run their shipping labels... I remember working on it many times until about 2007 when I left. I heard from my old boss a few years ago (around 2014 or so) that it had finally been replaced. Fortunately they got around to it before it failed :D

Dust - Hard Attack

These guys never really had much of a following, and were only active for about two years (1970-1971) which is a shame because they're really quite good... kind of a combination of rock, blues, and metal.

They're suspending operations indefinitely due to the pandemic - which isn't surprising at all. They don't have the financial infrastructure to keep everyone on payroll when it's unclear whether there will even be a season. That doesn't necessarily mean dead... I mean, it probably will end up being ...

The NUC supports 64 GB of RAM. Intel put engineering effort into implementing a RAMDISK in BIOS. What could be the use case? The BIOS supports loading the RAMDiSK from file. Seems to me that they are allowing for the possibility of running the entire OS installation (possibly Linux) from RAM for sc...

Can you test the GPU in another system to make sure that's not the problem? Edit: Also seems a bit of an odd choice to buy a 6YO motherboard for a use case which requires better-than-integrated graphics. Unless there's some other reason you need an older board (legacy PCI support?), this was probab...

I don't really care for wireless headphones. They're expensive, easily lost, another thing to recharge, and really don't offer much in return in my opinion. I don't really see headphone cords as being enough of a hindrance to make up for those things. For earbuds I use Sennheiser MX365 that I got fo...
