Ouch. Sounds like almost paying for lifetime service all over again. I bought a used ReplayTV for a song from a local auction. A large corp. was seized by the Feds for fraud, and all their gear was auctioned off, as well as the CEO and his wife's house and personal items. I got their ReplayTV, and g...

The problem is people think computers are hard to figure out, so they don't even try, which is really sad. I personally don't think this stuff is that complicated. I think it corresponds to a certain personality type, too. That personality type forms their own mental block: they convince themselves...

Now that Porkster is gone, Ricardo Dawkins comes immediately to mind. More an anti-fanboi, if anything (there isn't an Apple Mac thread that he can pass by and resist the temptation to flame).

I'd look at the Acura RSX, the non-S version. I've owned an Integra RS, and an Integra GS-R, as well as test-driven the RSX-S. The RSX still has reasonable get-up-and-go, but doesn't take premium gas. Having owned the GS-R, which required it, I have to say that adds up really quickly. Get the 5spd m...

Did you do an upgrade install or a clean install of the client?

If you did an upgrade, perhaps there was a GRC.DAT file left over in a profile from a previous install that pointed to a server.

You have two important issues: your power supply, and your heatsink/fan. If your RAM is quality 333MHz it should do 400MHz without problem (my Corsair XMS PC2700 does), if it's el-cheapo stuff, you've got an issue there too. Problem one can be solved with a good quality power supply. I recently swit...

No pizza chain is as good as a mom-n-pop place. Unless you're a college student (read: on a major budget), or your town is too small to have a family pizza joint, Pizza Hut and Papa John's, while okay, would be off my list. Props here in Grand Rapids, Michigan go to Andrea's. There's only one of the...

Damage mentioned that if dual-monitor support is turned on (which can be even if only one monitor is connected) it can have devastating results on performance. Have you checked that? I'm running at 1024x768 medium quality on the rig below. I get a hitch now and again, and while I don't want to, may ...

I haven't had any major problems with Antec, but I only put them in medium-duty systems for other people. Example: An Athlon XP 1600+ - 2000+ CPU, 512MB RAM, single hard disk, two CD-ROM drives, and a mainstream graphics card like a Radeon 9200. For a system like this, 300-350 watts is plenty, and i...
