Stealing a likeness?

When I saw "The Last of US" I KNEW it was Ellen Page. Then the girls voice didn't match and I thought "Why did they get Ellen Page to agree to be in the game but not have her also voice act the part? I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually act...

Re: PC Gamer's six reasons PC is winning E3

I am so happy the new consoles are a few months away. I can think it will do nothing but help PC game development for the next 2 to 4 years. Then I think it will be like the console ports we have now. Time will tell I guess. Yeah, I am excited about PC gaming as well with the new consoles coming. A...

Re: What does it mean to be a good programmer?

There is no "beauty" in programming (certainly no "timeless" beauty which can still be appreciated by many people not related to programming even after a few centuries)... As for being a "good programmer" it all comes down to being able to finish your assigned tasks du...

Re: What does it mean to be a good programmer?

I think there are two sides to your question. Content vs Style. It seems like you're really asking about what makes someones style unique & "good". A "good programmer" in my book would be someone who covers both. Good Progammer: Uses elegant design. Simple over complex where ...

Re: If Bill Gates died, how would the world remember him?

Smart phones and tablets are nice toys. But at some point, most people put on their big boy pants and get real work done on a Microsoft Windows PC. Please tell that to Facebook, Google, Apple etc. Why should I tell them? They already know. That's why they entered the toy market and not the desktop ...

Re: If Bill Gates died, how would the world remember him?

And PC's (personal computers) is actually a declining market so I'm not sure where your argument is. The personal computer market is expanding. Smartphones and tablets are personal computers. It is the traditional personal computer manufacturers and Microsoft who are losing market share. Imagine wh...

But Bill Gates > Steve Jobs. I just read about what he's done (5.8+ million lives saved etc.) and I'm so proud of Bill Gates  This is a joke post... Right? Or at least I hope it is... Because I feel very sad for you if you measure people's worth in an amount of $$$ they were able to give away...

I think it's all summed up like this:
Playstation 4:   We want to be facebook.
Xbox One:        We want to be television.
PC:              We like who we are.  (without metro crap)

Re: What's with all the extra Chrome traffic

I would guess this is Chrome's "predict network actions to improve page load performance". I believe that with a Google search, for example, Chrome preloads the top three or so search results since it figures you're going to click on one or more of them anyway. You can disable this in Chr...

What?
The things are customizable beyond belief. If anything, their downfall is that they try to force you into actually sitting up straight and having good posture, when I like to slouch.

But if you install Adblock on Chrome: http://www.dannyde.com/chrome/chromeWithAdBlock.png ... at least it's no longer two pages. there it is folks, Chrome is STILL a giant piece of adware. :D --------- Never trust a company whose revenue comes almost entirely from advertising. (eg google, facebook)

Just playing devils advocate, as it sit here in my 3-year-old, genuine HM Aeron chair...... Aerons are REALLY overpriced; previous post here . Re: Canon FINALLY intros the 200-400 f4 1.4x

"£11999.99 / €11800" Ouch! The pound sterling is worth 20% more than a euro. This is pretty weird pricing. £11999.99 = $18284.38 yet the USA price is 11,800. USA! USA! ;) It's time to stock up on these babies and make a few round trips to the UK. Probably hard to hide in ones pants, though.

Re: Do you believe cloud will replace stand alone software?

As I've stated.. it is inevitable. Adobe has now gone cloud ONLY not just cloud optional. Microsoft will be moving that direction as well with at least some of its products. Many other companies will follow suit. the Adobe Creative Cloud seems like an ok deal. I wish they'd have a 3 or 5 app model r...

It will be a lot nicer in some ways. Also, there was a time where then SEC east dominated. So, hopefully the Big 10 west can improve. It's going to be a little lopsided at first.

Joe Brodkin/Arstechnica posits that a significant number of users may well follow Stallman's advice to leave Ubuntu. I hope he's wrong in this case as I don't see a wounded or dead Canonical as a positive outcome for anyone. It's amazing how rabid fanboys justify spyware when it's from their favori...
