Re: 16GB iPhone SE - broken NAND? Will convert to Samsung

+1 for SuperSpy's solution. You could also back up her photos to something like Google Photos and delete the ones on the device. iOS uses some disk space for swap, so as you get below about 1GB of free space the phone will slow down in loading etc. No matter what she'll have a better experience with...

Re: Swift 5: async/await pattern

That kind of looks like it could block on the main thread, though. I can do Task.Run or Task.WhenAll to spin off my own threads in C# without locking the main thread (where the spinner can keep spinning unimpeded). It seems like you can do the same thing in Swift with an async function call . Unles...

You want an MSI 7870? Works great, I upgraded awhile back and never sold it off. It hasn't even been collecting dust because it's been sitting in its antistatic bag. Would happily ship it to a gerbil's home. Name a price.

Netflix might be the only service that actually works on Windows, but the issue is they don't have movies anymore. It's all relegated to their DVD service.

Legal 4K/UHD Streaming Services for PC

Starting to have some buyer's remorse after building a budget GT1030-powered HTPC. Don't get me wrong, it works great for 1080p 5.1ch Netflix and 4K60fps YouTube and all that, but I wanted to rent a movie through a streaming service, only to find UHD movies are really, really difficult to stream. Ev...

Re: Technology purchasing and "moments of weakness"

Most recent one was an SVS PB-2000 subwoofer during their Memorial Day sale. Have to keep it on <50% volume because the entire house shakes. It's rated for over a horsepower of peak output. No regrets.

And work was getting rid of servers so I took two R430s and an R620. Does that count?

Out of curiosity are you blocking the numbers already in iOS? I get a few spam calls here and there but just block the caller. Takes five seconds, it's free, and eliminates one of their numbers.

Given the requirements for budget, space, and Macrium (ie: Samba/Windows shares only) I would go semi-DIY: cheap reliable box running a network share. Off-lease HP and Dell workstations are cheap, powerful, efficient, and sometimes even come with ECC memory. You won't do better building your own. Fo...

Adding to this, you can even subscribe to a car: https://www.volvocars.com/us/shopping-t ... e-by-volvo

What I'm waiting for is a subscription of subscriptions--one flat rate (probably to some startup) that bundles everything you need in life from all the other companies.

To be fair, I also had a Founders Centennial IPA with it ($16 for a 15-pack), so that adds another buck(ish) with sales tax.
