At a UE3-ish tech level, 45 is fine, maybe even good. In recent stuff with more aggressive frame pipelining, 45 tends to make the mouse feel like it's moving through molasses. :(

Re: High or low fps?

I don't understand game reviews that call 45 frames "completely unplayable" like anything under 60 is garbage. If I am running around Arkham or Azeroth with nothing going on, then I will notice the difference between 40 and 60. As soon as things get intense though, I only notice dips when ...

Any idea whether it was a battery failure or something else? My guess is they used the cheapest, crappiest NiMH cells they could find; a few hundred charge/discharge cycles would be fairly typical for these. The batteries may be replaceable.

Re: Anyone repair anything today?

Very nice! In more of a replace than repair, I swapped out our front porch light with a solar-powered non-mains-connected light with a dusk-to-dawn sensor and motion sensor. I basically don't have to think about it anymore. The brightness is great. Other than loosing one of the nuts during installa...

The GPU performance ought to be around what an R7 260/360 would give you, assuming you pair it with 3000+ RAM.

Holy hell. It's hard to have fun when you're old. A few hours at a rock show, and I have been destroyed. I expected to lose my voice and leave with my ears ringing, but it seems like everything else got wrecked also. :-? You're just sitting too close to the stage. Last couple concerts we've been to...

C'mon, the handbook only means something when the (non-HR) employee is the one who's wrong. My favorite part in all this is that the email I sent said these were pre-approval forms , before the courses are taken. The reply I got was "we also need proof of your grades", and I'm like... :ev...

In other news, I got the floor in. Now just need to repaint the baseboards (really should have done this first), and the quarter round.

I just round down when formatting. So my 500 "GB" SSD would be 465, so I formatted 450 of it.

If you're running Windows 10, it won't let you defrag it, so no worries there.

And you'd have to write MASSIVE amounts of data to the drive before worrying about it wearing out, so again, no worries.
