Thanks guys for the compliments on my nick! I actually have two pet mice right now and they are great. Fancy mice - one is black and white and the other is brown and white. Very neat multi-patterns on them. I always liked rodents, maybe this is why I deviated here!

Thanks a lot for the replies and insight, I greatly appreciate all of the feedback and suggestions! And upon giving it some thought, I decided to join the UnitedGerbilNation. :D I'm currently 4849/20000 into completing my first WU, and have had my laptop running most of yesterday and today at about ...

Some babble and a few questions

I've been meaning to do it for a while, but I finally started folding yesterday (yes for team 2630!) on my Turion 64 ML-34 based laptop and was wondering about a couple of things. Sorry if my questions sound stupid but I could not find anything after a bit of searching... How does scoring work exact...

Sorry to hear what happened, but don't take it too hard. I don't really celebrate the New Year anymore (and haven't for years) because all it really means is that we are all a year older (not a good thing) and it's generally the time of year when certain cost of living increases happen. You know, go...

Yes, I can pretty much 100% guarantee that we will be having a white Christmas this year. We had so much snow dumped on us in November that it was crazy. Not so much this month, but the damage is done! But actually, this is a bit of a departure from recent years. Although the temperatures are ...

I bought a new computer from a local shop last month and it came with a free upgrade coupon to Vista Home Premium. When I do decide to get a DirectX 10 video card (probably next Christmas), I will install Vista then. Hopefully the upgrade disc that Microsoft ships me will work on a dual boot with XP...

As it has been with my entire life, I usually just bring my keys, as well as my wallet and money if necessary. Even though I'm in my mid-30's, I've never had a driver's licence (never wanted one) so I don't always have my wallet with me. And I don't see the need for a cell phone. I never needed one ...

I am a Luddite. I agree completely with this post. It echos my sentiments. Nobody who posts on computer enthusiast forum on the internet is a luddite. Picking and choosing technologies to hate (whether it's cell phones, Windows, the PS3/XBox/Wii, or whatever) is a primary characteristic of techno p...

This probably isn't your problem, but one issue that I had in particular with my computer is that I would either get an error report, or the installation would not proceed on certain games (especially EA games that have the blue pop-up screen asking if you want to register now or later) after I inst...

Honestly, even if you count watching the evening news (which I only do half the time), I perhaps watch 6 to 8 hours of television in a week. Most nights there is nothing on that interests me.

I am a Luddite. Its not a fear of phones or inanimate objects. It's an annoyance of the "modern" way of life. I'm sick of the must be in contact society. Of the people that think you cant live life without these little toys / demons in a box and of the extra costs of what people deem required. It's...

Everybody's case is different, but land line with go with me to my grave. I've never had a cell phone in my life partly because I'm not convinced they are safe, and also because I view them as an electronic leash.

Is that 12-18 just the stuff that gets through Postini, or does it include the stuff that got held by the filter? Because if it is the latter, that is very low. Postini has been great at filtering out junk mail for me, but I doubt we will ever actually win the war on spam. Despite not replying to junk mail, it still plagues me every day judging from what I see in my detained messages. It's not as bad as it used to be (it was as high as 55 spams per day at o...
