I read the headline and the first question that popped into my head was, "Does Michael Bay happen to live in your neighborhood?" Dramatic explosions seem to be his thing. Don't let Michael Bay near any of your possessions that hold significant value.

I guess it has been a while since I checked the details. The MintBox 2 looks a bit outdated now.

Re: apple mini or DIY new pc

I considered a Mac Mini as well, but the specs looked ridiculously underpowered. I bought a 27 inch iMac instead. I'd suggest a MintBox or a small PC from this website, and then slap Ubuntu on it. :D

Re: Anyone else getting more aggressive Win10 u/g notificati

Windows 10 is government mandated spyware. They eventually plan on forcing the pill down your throat. If we don't want it, we need to organize an army to stop the redcoats. The British are coming! Oh wait, metaphorically, our current situation seems to be getting worse than the reason we fought for ...

Re: Windowsd 10 can run up to two programs at once!

Marketing teams often correctly assume that much of the population is stupid. Remember "Digital Ready" headphones back when mp3 players were becoming popular? Much of the population is stupid. That cannot be denied. Otherwise, places like Wal-Mart and Staples wouldn't be able to sell a war...

Re: Motherboard + CPU Swap In Win10 WOW!

I have a sneaking suspicion that crap like this from Microsoft will only get worse. I bought a mac, but if I had bought a PC, I would use Ubuntu or Linux Mint. I LOVE Linux. Gotta love it. The only time I ever use Windows is when I'm at my parents. I regret installing Windows 10 on my dad's computer...

Online sarcasm

Not sure what category to put this in. The NSA has it's work cut out for it if it thinks it can make algorithms that detect sarcasm.

The only problems I've had with Ubuntu, or any version of Linux for that matter, is with a printer I had. It was a Canon brand all-in-one laser. No drivers whatsoever for it. I can't remember which model though.

Re: Mac Keyboards

I grew up typing on an IBM Model M keyboard. I prefer the buckling spring keyboard to anything else, hands down, but in my experience, mechanical is the second best. As far as I know, The IBM Model M was the only buckling spring keyboard ever made, and it is still made by unicomp. I used to have one...

Oh wait never mind. I went into ~/Library/Safari/Databases and found a netflix folder. I deleted it and the cookie isn't coming back anymore. Yay! :-) Heck, it's even something I could have done from the XTerminal window. :-)

Persistent cookie

I have a netflix cookie in Safari that keeps coming back no matter how many times I delete it. I go to safari > preferences > privacy > remove all website date. No matter how many times I clear website data or even remove the cookie individually it keeps coming back. AUGH!

Until SSDs are a time-proven technology, I will be sticking with HDD. I don't care how fast my programs start up. When it comes to gaming, do I really need to spend a significant amount of extra money just so other areas in WoW load 1 second faster? I'm 35 years old. Kids, some of us have something ...

I kind of meant it as a joke, but for people who are not computer literate who click upgrade to Windows 10 because a pop-up box said to, and hey, it's free, well, grandma and grandpa will probably click on it and not know how to custom configure it. Windows 7 was Microsoft's best operating system in...

Re: Windows 10 forced restarts - unimaginable rage

Windows 10 is a form of rape. It attempts to force itself on you. It takes over your computer and reboots it without your consent. Then it tells all it's friends what you did with it. It then forces you to update certain programs to work properly such as Quickbooks 2013. It causes much grief and sor...

I grew up on a cattle ranch in Idaho, and we grew up learning how to fix pretty much everything. You end up...

I'm not sure. Do you have any recommendations for under $200 that might be better than the Klipsch Promedias? I used to have a set, but I know there are better ones out there. I just don't want to break the bank right now.

Ok. Why does the iMac come with this gorgeous but teeny tiny laptop-style keyboard? It looks pretty, but it is impractical to type an email on. It's like marrying a supermodel. Yup. I would have gone with an internal sound card, but, I can't really find a way to open my iMac and cram one in there. I had to go with a USB solution. :( I guess noise isolation of going external is a bonus though. :D
