I have an XP2100+ .18. The processor runs fine, but the device appears to be at it's physical limit on the .18 die. Althought I have not tried extensive cooling/voltage tweaking (I'd rather be safe than sorry and not ruin my $200+ chip) I have only gotten it to about 1.82 GHz (a tick better than a 2...

I wonder if you could rig a water cooling system to it, or possibly a heat pipe, that would work very well keeping the heat outside. I'm seriously debating putting some 16-1800s in my old presario 4500 case, but I would have to do some serious modding. It would be neeto, but would probably sound lik...

This looks so cool, I wonder if I could fit all that crap into my old presario 4532 case when I retire it. It would just be a big laugh to see people scoff at it then watch it boot up in like 20 seconds. Not to mention watching the massive wave of heat roll off the top :-) /me thinks this may be a g...

I agree with the above posters.

Windows (heart) RAM

I wouldn't recommend running anything less than 256MB unless your just using it for some sort of server, as multitasking would kill it.

Take it from me, the machine I'm typing this on now has 64mb of SDR.

It sucks. Period.

Windows Media Player 9? I turned my nose up ever since I saw 7.x, It looked disgustingly bloated.
Version 6.4 all the way for me (even on win2k/xp ;-), it plays everything 8/9 can, but it looks like a normal windows app, plus it can do always on top, so I can multitask.

/me can vouch for commander keen, especially the dumbfish or whatever from like episode 4. lol. I used to get glued to that game so long. Even when I got my pentium II system.
I probably never saw some of the other cool games, as my first computer was a 386, but I would still play keen.

Colixir is all that is printed in the chips; they are all the same, except for the size. They are all generic CAS 2.5 sticks. I ran the chips at every setting I could get, before I was able to run them with all the performance settings maxed out. They work fine in my friends identical machine. Notin...

RAM Troubles

I changed my ram and now Windows XP Pro wont boot, it BSODs every time I start. My computer had 2 512MB PC2100 chips in it, and my friend had 1 256MB PC2100 chip. My friend and I decided to swap chips, I would give him a 512 chip and I would get a 256, so I got 768 total. After we made the swap, win...

Stefan231, I can assure you that there is no problem with your system, the process labeled 'System Idle Process' is just that, the amount of CPU time that the computer is NOT using to run all the other tasks. This 'process' has an effective priority of zero, so any application that needs to use the ...

I love[d] my old p2 300 slot, solid as a rock and ice cold, unlike my athlonXP box that sounds like a small air conditioner.
(Then again, my athlon finishes several F@H WUs a day when my p2 was like several per week)

Reversing The CPU Fan?

I have an athlon XP 2100+ with a thermaltake volcano 7 varial 2900-5000 rpm fan. Since right in front of its intake is the rear case fan, wouldn't it be better to reverse the fan, pulling the hot air from the cpu directly into the case's exhaust, instead of fight the case fan for air? Also, how woul...
